What would you ask a gun mfgr to build?

10mm carbine that takes Glock mags. Integrally suppressed. :) For $399 :))

What are the Pro's and Con's of a 5.56 Nato AK?

You have a point. I wasn't considering steel cased 5.56 and since we are talking about AKs I should have. However when you move down to steel cased 5.56 you've now got similar accuracy as x39 in a less powerful round. Where's the advantage other than lower ammo weight? I'll go with the...

What are the Pro's and Con's of a 5.56 Nato AK?

Speaking of AKs in general, why would I want to shoot a less powerful more expensive round in a platform that can't utilize its range and inherent accuracy advantage? BTW I do own a Saiga in .308 and love it. If I was going to buy a 5.56 AK it would be a Saiga, but 5.56 is just too overpriced...

I am considering a Ruger Mini-14 and I need your help.

I bought my first Mini-14 a few months ago, kept it for two weeks. It was a beautiful blue metal example with wood stock, wood handguard and a M14 style flash hider. Looked just like a little mini M14. From a rest I was getting 5" groups at 50yds. To be fair this was an early model, not one...

    Bore Cleaner

I believe I got more out by letting it sit a couple of hours after letting it sit for 20 minutes on the first pass. Yes letting it sit all day is overkill, but I'm not always around to start over every two hours. Once in the morning and once at night was the pattern I fell into for convenience.

    Bore Cleaner

Foaming bore cleaners are awesome especially for copper fouling. A word of caution though, I ruined a hardwood floor when more of the stuff drained from a bore than I thought possible. Saturated the rag I left under the muzzle and got onto the floor. Even where I sat the can down it left a...

    Gun buy-up must continue!

I doubt that adding to the number of weapons purchased statistics is going to be as good for our cause as putting the effort and/or $ into writing your representatives or some other direct activist action. It's a great excuse to go out and buy a gun though. :D And mods, I'm under the...

    ZEM Hearing Protection

I think these would be perfect to keep by your home defense gun. They go on quickly with no clumsy power switches or volume controls (and many muffs have two sets of those things). Some people use AR-15 carbines for home protection. I wouldn't want to touch off a 5.56 in a hallway without...

Omaha Doctor calls for assault weapons ban

The antis use whatever argument they think will fit the tragedy du jour to blame the gun. This Dr. Stothert is making a big deal out of the speed of the bullet because a rifle was used. He'd be making a big deal about high cap mags if a tec-9 9mm was used. He'd be making a big deal out of...

Omaha Doctor calls for assault weapons ban

Don't know about the tec-9 but they had a shotgun and a highpoint 9mm carbine.

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

So could I... with a carbine. Maybe even with a 5" 1911, but I sure wouldn't bet my life on it. Most people CCW much less accurate weapons however. I carry a very lightweight 3" single stack 9mm, and 50 yds is out of the question. Many people carry 2" snubbies. In a store like that there is...

Contacted a Mall about CCW policy

It's the insurance companies. If a CCW shoots someone in their business (no matter how unlikely that may be) they believe they can be sued for liability because they didn't prohibit CCW. If a nut job murders 10 people they believe they can't be sued because there's no way they could have...

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

No way I'd go up against someone with a semi auto rifle at 50yrds with a typical service handgun, its suicide unless you're lucky. Now if I thought I could maneuver to within 20yds undetected, thats another story.

    Kel-tec Plr-16

And hopefully you'll hit the BG with the first round, because after that you'll be blind and deaf (and the deaf part might be permanent)!

    CCW v/s DUI-DWI

I believe the ability to defend one's self is a right, not a privilege as was stated by a poster above. Therefore he should be able to keep it until he demonstrates a reason directly related to his ability to safely conceal and responsibly use a firearm that shows otherwise. When we allow...

    1986 FBI Miami Shootout?

Firefights are crapshoots. The round in question went through the perp's arm first before entering his body. The ever changing random nature of positioning and lineup of all the varied substances that makeup the human body during an encounter makes the claim that a different caliber would have...

    10/22 and a scope

I have to add that my preference for a mil dot (or a ballistic plex, etc.) comes from the fact that I shoot clays from 100 to 200 yds (when there is no wind of course) for fun with an accurate bolt rifle. For a stock 10/22 to hunt with 50yds or less a 4X standard reticle is fine, in fact that...

    10/22 and a scope

I prefer mil dot reticles on my .22s, because .22lr drops so much. A standard reticle post obscures the target if you need to hold over. If you zero at 50 or 100 and try to shoot at 100 or 150 (respectively) you're out of luck unless you have a mil dot or similar.

CVS declares first victims ahead of time

His simple presence does deter shoplifting, but it does not deter one iota an armed robber who knows the guard is unarmed, and there are some pretty smart criminals out there. What can we do to make it an insurance nightmare for establishments that prevent people from defending themselves?
