what is the cheapest pump 18-20 inch 12 gauge you can buy?

I'm going the "buy an old pump gun and modify it for your purposes" route. Got a very good deal on a friend's old JC Higgins Mod. 20 (this is a High-Standard Mod. 200 branded with a Sears trademark.) Scatterguns are pretty stimple, as far as firearms go. Not easy to screw up. No rifling...

Shoot in May That is planning ahead. I'll try to make time for it. Didn't know they had a public range in that park.

Does China sell guns to Chavez?

The CIA's worried about Chavez supplying narco-terrorist militias in neighboring Columbia, like the leftist FARC. And yes, the CIA is active in Columbia. Although I'm unsure if our government officially acknowledges this fact.

Does China sell guns to Chavez?

China will sell weapons to anyone. Chavez made a deal with Russia for 100,000 brand-new AK-103s. The first shipment of 30,000 rifles (along with 25 million rounds of 7.62x39) arrived this summer, and the next shippment is scheduled for next month.

    .380 choices

'Plus one' to everything said by Dirty Bob. I like the SIG 232 as well, but the sticker price is more than I'm willing to pay. The Maks are less expensive (though, with the milsurps in 9x18 drying up, prices may be climbimg on all Maks), and they hold one more round. The CZ83 looks pretty...

    Barn find, literally....

I like the idea of 'barn guns'. As a city dweller, I wonder how common and widespread the practice of keepin a gun out in the barn is, in rural America. Most of my friends that live in the country have a .22 lever-action (or usually a .22 of some sort) that just sits in a outbuilding on their...

    AK Interchangability

I thought you were talking about OEM furniture.. That US made stuff will probably fit your average Romanian, or others. It's possible there may be some fitting involved.

You'll have to be more specific, there are variations from country to country.

    DON'T use the slide release?

Russian military training manuals for the Mak say to use the slide stop/release, whichever you prefer to call it. But it will cause wear on the part over time so I mostly use the slingshot method as follows: grasp the slide serrations b/t thumb and forefinger, pull back 1/8", let slide fly...

Guns your father had when you were growing up

My old man and his two brothers used to take an Iver-Johnson 12ga. out and harvest a couple of deer every season. During his time in the Marine Corps, he was issued a number of weapons. Among them the Browning .30 cal machine gun. Nowadays, he says he's got no use for firearms.

    DON'T use the slide release?

This is also the only way I've been warned against chambering a round re: NDs. The slide slams home onto the round in the chamber with more force than when stripping a round from the mag, and could result in a slamfire. Also, with my mousegun (Beretta 21A in .22LR) I've been warned that...

    Oil Inside the Barrel?

Huh? You mean not all pistol barrels are chrome-lined, like my Makarov? :neener: Sorry, just had to rub it in. But before I started buying non-comblock firearms I really did have to stop and think when people talked about bore maintenance: 'oh, you have to oil yours to protect them from...

    Lest We Never Forget 9/11

    Lest We Never Forget 9/11

If you're ABC, you make a movie that dramatizes and fictionalizes what happened so that we can watch it as 'entertainment'.

    Makarov double

Beauty in simplicity The ease of takedown, and working on these pistols is why I chose one as my first. Reminds me of a quote from another famous Russian gun designer: "I read in some book, maybe holy scripture: 'All that is complex is not useful, and all that is useful is simple.' This...

    Makarov double

Sometimes, when you limp-wrist these pistols, they tend to bump fire. As opposed to jamming, like most semis. So make sure you have a firm grip, wrist locked. Or, it could be a worn sear. Keep an eye on it, for sure.

    Common safety deactivation direction

Safeties/decockers are what keep me from buying most of the newer auto's. You can always just.. leave it off. I personally prefer my DA/SAs to be on safe when a round's chambered.
