    .257 B.B. Magnum?

I stumbled across an interesting wildcat while perusing a gun auction listing. It is the .257 B.B. Magnum. According to the auction listing, it is a .257 bullet in a necked down .300 Win Mag brass. Given that, it should be a screamer. I have searched for more info but I've not found anything...

    First AK: 7.62x39 or 5.45x39?

I've decided that I "need" (OK, want) an AK. Now the hard work begins. Which AK and in what caliber? An AK in 7.62x39 would give me more choices as to models and features from what I can see. However, the ammo is more expensive and is getting more expensive. Mags are more plentiful, have more...

    Trouble seeing sights clearly

While I still have 20/20 vision for distance, I can't read without glasses anymore. I also can't see my front sight that well. My arms just aren't long enough. I know there are a lot of sights that are good for "old" eyes like mine. I use some and they are good. However, I still can't...

    Academics for the Second Amendment

This is a group of law professors, historians, and other academics who support the Second Amendment as an individual right. Given that the DC Circuit Court made lots of references to the firearms history in early America, these folks should be able to provide even more valuable support for our...

The Sandusky (Ohio) Register published the names, town, and ages of concealed carry permit holders in 5 Ohio counties yesterday. They are running a long article this morning defending their actions as promoting open government and against two classes of government records...

HR 1859 introduced by Carolyn McCarthy yesterday.

She sure didn't waste any time before dancing on the bodies of the dead Virginia Tech students and professors!:fire: Read the whole bill. So far there are no co-sponsors but it is only a day old. John Anti-Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act of 2007 (Introduced in House)...

    Handloaders Expo?

I just spent the weekend at the International Custom Rod Building Expo in High Point, NC. It attracted almost 2,000 custom fishing rod builders, 30-40 manufacturers and dealers to a two day show. It featured manufacturer's exhibits, custom rod builders, and many seminars. People came from all...

Which dies for 280 Rem. Ackley Improved?

I bought a Browning A-Bolt II Boss in .280 Rem. Ackley Improved this weekend at a local gun show. I couldn't help myself - it was just calling to me! Given that this is a semi-wildcat, I will have to reload for it. I have found 2 and 3 die sets from Lee and Redding as well as 2 die sets from...

    Help in ID'ing Mannlicher Schoenauer

I just purchased a Mannlicher-Schoenauer at an auction this morning. I need some help identifying the exact model, etc. I especially am trying to figure out if this is a 7x57 Mauser or a 7x64 Brenneke. I have inserted the picture files from the auction catalog. I am thinking it is either...

    Who made Herter's brass?

I see old Herter's brass coming up occasionally on eBay. Given that Herter's was something like the Cabela's or similar company of its day, who actually made the rifle brass sold by Herter's? Thanks John in WNC

    Shellholder interchangability?

This is a newbie question but are shellholders interchangeable between different makes of single-stage presses. In other words, could I use Redding or Lyman shellholders on a RCBS Rockchucker press? Or do I have to use RCBS with RCBS and Lyman with Lyman? Thanks for the help. John
