    AR-15 Picatinny rail scope mount...

I have been happy with my Wilson Combat 1" Scope Mount. It is one piece and built like a tank, but at a lower cost than the LaRue Tactical. At 3x zoom, you can almost see the front sight, so if you are looking at a lower magnification, you may want to get a higher mount. See here.

    Rack Trunk Dupe, sorry.

    Any cyclists? (CCW)

Rack Trunk While others have a point about getting separated from your bike, I have never had a problem accessing items in a rack trunk quickly. I also would not want to take a fall on a loaded firearm. Items stored in a rack trunk do not get sweaty or interfere with your breathing, which is a...

    Wolf 7.62x39 Ammo

Bullet difference The difference is not 1 or 2 grains, but different construction. The 124 JHP is supposedly much better for self defense, as it yaws faster and fragments. I have not had feeding problems with either, although I have seen SKSs that will not feed the heavier 154 gr. soft points.

    My first AK?

Compare the weight I have a VEPR with a RPK reciever and I love it, but it is heavy. I got it used because the previous owner couldn't stand the weight and Mrs. Holtz won't use it because of the weight. It is accurate, but the available ammo holds it back.

best .223/5.56 ammo for 20 inch 1/9" twist barrel

"Best" round There is no magic bullet, I like 55 grn because it was cheaper, but now anything costs an arm and a leg. :cuss: You might want to try the 5.56-17N-T at The Hunting Shack. Mine was well made, new brass and shoots well, though the 223-17N-T is supposed to be slightly more accurate...

    Basic accuracy question about ARs

Don't lose sight of the reason you have the guns. If you bought them for home defense, and they are within acceptable specs, you're golden. If you modify them for target shooting, you may be making changes that make them less suitable for home defense. Barrels with tighter tolerances will not...

Some see Fresno's DUI crackdown as a model

Its a complex issue Checkpoints are a real pain and make you feel like you live in a police state, but drunk drivers have no business on the road, and .08 is not a scientific standard. Here is a proposal that has no chance of happening: Set a real DUI standard: 0.15 was the medically agreed...

Heads Up (Good deal on 7.62x39 Wolf at Dunham's Sports.)

The rounds are different The round without the red sealant is 123 grain and the one with the red sealant is 124 grain. Besides one grain, the rounds are shaped and designed differently. The 123 gr HP does not expand, and is not a good home defense round, while the 124 gr HP is supposed to...

    AR 15 Flat top question

I like my Wilson combat lo-mount. Its one piece, steel and solid. It is high enough to see above the front sight at 3x magnification and higher. Here it is at Midway.

Steel cased .223 work ok in AR's?

From the Bushmaster site: Article at http://www.bushmaster.com/documents/ammoadvisory.pdf I would think that means Wolf is OK, at least for the warranty.

    AR15/M4 handgrip question?

Get the A3 flattop, but... Make sure you get the optics high enough to clear the front sight. Mounting some red dot scopes to the flattop will be too low or the front sight will obsure your view. Here is a guide with some options and more info. Murphy's law says that a cowitnessed sight is a...

    Advice to stop car burglery

How to convert a webcam into infrared A webcam converted to infrared should work in darkness and should be pretty cheap. You may need some IR illumination if the picture is too dark, but that will not be visible to the thief. If you get some motion-activated capture software, you could have a...

.223 Factory Ammo Choice & stopping power

.223 Factory Ammo Choice Here is a review of the 75gr. Hornady TAP, which is supposed to be a good choice and here is a place to buy them at one half to one third what you would pay for the Hornady. Check out this forum for reviews of the ammo. The 5.56 is a little less accurate than the...
