    357 Sig or 40 S&W

.357 SIG's availability is regional. There's plenty of it in my area. It's more expensive than .40, but it's not a significant increase. I have a 357 Dragon(something) barrel for my SIG 229, but I'm considering just using the .40 and dropping the .357 I just don't feel it's adding anything...

S&W Two Piece Barrels ... Que?

I'm in the market for a new revolver, and I've owned mostly Rugers and only one .38 Smith that dates from the 50's or so (inherited from grandfather). I'm considering giving it a brother in the form of a 625 or 686. I've heard grumblings about Smith using a "two piece barrel" in newer models...

My First Handgun -- Kimber - Is it worth the money?

The problem with your idea ripcurlksm could be the Darwinian mistake of forgetting to open up the tent or missing the entrance/exit and bouncing it off the fabric, especially in your oh-so-coordinated "I just woke up and there's a bear here" state. Of course, the bear might like his meals cooked.

And Now - Alloy Glock Frames!!!

So, let me get this straight... they're taking the "Plastic" out of the "Fantastic Plastic"? Jesus, just buy a different gun. I'm not a Glock person in the slightest, but even I recognize when something's gone off the reservation.

When did policemen stop carry 6 inch .38 Colt or S&W revolvers?

Considering that you only get one bullet, you might want to consider a T/C in .308. :neener:

    XD Cleaning

I use Montana Xtreme on the chamber and bore. Break Free CLP on everything else.

    What's your recoil limit???

I agree with Socrates concerning the grips. Even "standard" aftermarket grips, such as those made by Hogue or Pachmayer can help. Gun makers invaribably put uncomfortable-to-me grips on their guns. For instance, I love my new .44 Blackhawk... one of the flat tops. But the "default" grips...

    First .223: AR or VEPR?

A VEPR is a great, if not "authentic" AK. They're on the heavy side, but that helps with felt recoil and extended shooting (the receivers are RPK receivers, so are heavy, and the barrels are thicker). Throw an optic on there, and you can match some stock ARs (non-floated, using same quality of...

My First Handgun -- Kimber - Is it worth the money?

The only issues a 1911 might pose to a "newbie" is disassembly... and doing it once usually teaches you what you need to know. 3"-ers are a little more of a conundrum but nothing dramatically hard.

    Fate of the .44 special

Start shooting it more and buying it more. Then they'll start selling more.

    Anyone's revolver break?

I've had a S&W go out of time before, but that's about it.

    Hesse receivers

Hey, as long as it's not my face going down near that receiver, enjoy.

    I want a 308 enfield, recommendations?

Gibbs Rifle used to sell .308 SMLE Jungle Carbines, both refurbished and new. No idea if they're still around, though. Their website's dead.

    Solicitors and uninvited house "visitors"

I don't answer the door except to hollar "I ain't buying any, I'm a Buddhist, and I don't want to get involved" and I ignore people who approach me except to give them a once over. That seems to work for me. (Obviously, if it was someone who was bleeding all over the place, I'd call 911 for...

    AR-10 vs M-1A/M-14: Convince me…

I will say that my friend has had a heck of a lot more issues with his Knight's SR-25 than I ever had with my Armalite AR-10... I've not had a lot of failures to feed and only failures to extract when using crappy ammo, and even then, it's not that bad. The only thing I've had to do with it...

    Do you tell your spouse?

Sneaking in guns that will inevitably be found is a stupid thing to cause a fight over. And a good way to be shot with your own gun. That never goes over well at the watercooler. :D

    First Gun Suggestions?

To provide support to pax's argument, I have a much smaller friend (5'0" Asian girl) who outshoots me with my .44 Blackhawk. It's frightening.

Parent Says No To AR15: Needing Help

Eh, it's a relatively light (if I'm carrying a 15 and not a 10... and even then, 10s are lighter than some target bolt rifles), quick to shoulder weapon that can easily carry a variety of optics. The wonderful thing about ARs is adaptation. Pop a couple of pins or throw a couple of levers and...

    QUESTION ON MILITARY AMMO (IN)ACCURACY

2 MOA isn't going to create a dramatic dispersal pattern. I mean, think about it... it's just a 2" circle at 100 yds. If it's round with a maximum effective range of 600 yds that's not going to do much for you unless you're going up against the Kate Moss Army. The reason military ammo isn't...

    CCW shoot out in Tulsa

Please note, however, that you don't have to take the beating. If all he's doing is being a drunk jerk, that's one thing. But if someone's attacking you, you do not need to wait until he's beating you to death before deciding that, "hey, maybe this guy's serious." Otherwise, I agree with...
