Have you actually chronoed this load from a 2-inch barreled revolver, or are you simply figuring it will lose 50 or so FPS per inch?

    Taurus Quality verification

The experience of myself and a gunsmith with 20+ years experience who has repaired quite a few Taurus revolvers. The springs are, in many cases, not the best. Yes, I've owned a Taurus 617. My point is simply this - Smith & Wesson makes a much better product, and in many cases, price...

Out of what size barrel are you getting the 1250 fps, thatguy? This is generally the problem, most .38 Specials that people use for self defense have a 2-inch barrel. Out of smaller barrels, 9mm generally goes faster, because it's a higher pressure round. Out of longer barrels, the...

It's probably because autopistols can only reliable handle rounds that are within a certain weight, shape, and power range, and beyond that, they won't function reliably in the gun. Revolvers, because they don't rely on the power of the round to cycle the action, don't have this issue. You...

    Taurus Quality verification

Yeah, I figured I could have paid less if I had shopped around more, but I didn't want to go through the trouble for $20-$30, and $369 or so seems to be the going rate around here. But, anyway, my point is - comparable Smith & Wesson revolvers are about as cheap as the Taurus revolvers, and...

When to push the reset button

Especially when, among the "militia members" I've met, more are interested in overthrowing the U.S. govt. and installing a theocracy. I don't take these pathetic malcontents that call themselves "militia" very seriously, sorry.

I just bought a new in box Smith & Wesson 642 for $369.00 - retail from a gun shop in Marietta, GA. Show me where you can buy a new in box .38 Special Taurus lightweight snubnose for $269.00. If it's a choice of buying a $319.00 Taurus or a $369.00 Smith & Wesson, I'll take the Smith &...

    Taurus Quality verification

The problems with the Taurus guns is the poor quality of the springs used in the gun. This isn't the problem with all Taurus guns, but bad springs get into enough of them that it continues to be a serious QC issue with the guns. The Taurus guns are about the same price, maybe a bit less...

When to push the reset button

You can say that, but much lesser and fewer infringements upon their liberties inspired the Founding Fathers to revolt. The "time when it will be as plain as the nose on your face" passed a long time ago. Let's face it, folks, the people of this country are generally fat, happy, and...

    Half As Many Love Revolvers...

I like, use, and carry both. I prefer a j-frame revolver for it's concealability, it's ease of carry, and the fact that the round it chambers is much less marginal than similarly concealable autos of comparable price. I can slip one into a pocket and carry it all day long without worries of it...

Well, i saw a thread where some one wondered why his wife liked stainless guns....

I don't really care, I'm more concerned about corrosion resistance than about the color of the finish. I live in a pretty humid/wet climate, and guns that aren't pretty well protected against moisture tend to rust. I like Glocks, stainless/alloy revolvers, etc. for this reason, but their color...

    Why a Revolver?

I'm not downing revolvers here, I have them and like them. A stoppage in a revolver, unless it's caused by something like a primer not going off, is usually more difficult to clear than a stoppage in an auto. A "tap, rack, bang" drill usually clears most auto stoppages, while a revolver...

    Inexpensive AK Mags?

Were they all steel mags? I'm really not interested in plastic mags for the AK.

    Inexpensive AK Mags?

Does anyone know the place that has the best price on steel 30-round AK magazines? The best price I've seen for them online has been around $10 apiece.

    Camo? Bah!!! Humbug!!!

I just wear an old pair of camo BDU's, shirt and pants. It may work, it may not, I just don't want to get my jeans and other clothes dirty and nasty out in the field :).

What can you tell me about the two-tone MK9 Kahr?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Kahr E9, their economy version of the K9. It's the same gun as the K9, with a couple of differences. First, the front sight is pinned in (like a Glock) as opposed to being dovetailed in (like the K9). Secondly, either the frame or the slide (usually the...

Please tell me about the Star Model B

If you choose to get one, DO NOT DRYFIRE IT, as that will break the firing pin. I'd stock up on an extra firing pin because of that, too. Also, the one my wife had would not feed HP ammunition. On the positive side, if you have small hands, this puppy will likely fit yours like a charm...

    Return of the Wondernine?

I saw prices of over $100 per mag for Glock 17 mags last year. Yes, there were guns out there that still had relatively inexpensive mags available, but for a whole lot of guns, including 9mm's, 3 or 4 mags could easily equal the price of the gun. That's ridiculous, IMHO, and I'm glad that's at...

Hmm, What gun would you buy your signifigant other or, would you?

My wife shot a bunch of different guns, and settled on the 9mm Kahr E9. It fits her smaller hands better than most other guns because it's thinner.
