    Barrel length for sporting clays?

You got a great deal. I also went with the 30 inch barrels after handling several brands and models of O/U at stores. Checked prices at some local places plus by calling and through Davidson's Gallery of Guns, which gave me bids from half a dozen local stores. Bass Pro, which is usually high...

    Barrel length for sporting clays?

New to sporting clays. About ready to buy a Beretta Silver Pigeon 12 gauge sporting O/U. The question is 30 or 32 inch barrels. I’m 6’0”. What would you recommend? Kind of leaning to 30 for some reason.

    Natchez Shooting Supply

What I have read is that the company began as a regional wholesaler and still wholesales to retail shops in AL, TN and GA. They don't compete against those shops by also selling retail in their states. Not sure if true. Anyone else know?

What is the last gun that you bought?

Colt Huntsman .22 pistol, circa 1974. Excellent condition. I think maybe one magazine of rounds was fired through it.

    Life Below Zero

Chip/Caribou, Thanks for all your insights. Your life and mine could not not be more different, and that is what makes the show so interesting to me. Most of us realize the dramatizations and take things with a grain of salt. I'm willing to put up with it a bit on THIS show because it is...

Texas proposes alcohol sales at some gun shows

A guy explained on page 2 that this has nothing to do with the kind of "gun show" we go to. It only applies to museum display type events with non functioning guns not sold on premises.

    Life Below Zero

When I was on the cross-country team at Northeastern Alaska State University, we carried Louisville sluggers (or bat of your choice) for bear protection when on training runs through the woods. Teammates often came back from runs covered in bear blood. So, yes, the bats are quite effective. ;)

    Life Below Zero

I enjoy the show but don't get too caught up in the details due to obvious editing manipulations to create drama. Did they miss two shots before they hit that critter? Maybe, or maybe they showed some other shots as "misses" to build tension. I think Chip has mentioned this. Pretty sure Agnes...

    Life Below Zero

Thanks for all the interesting information in this thread. It's taken me a while, but I've read through the entire thing. Quite a bit different from my life in a Louisiana suburb. I enjoy the show and look forward to future episodes.

    Got a Henry for Christmas

Bought one for myself yesterday, on spur of the moment. Was out on a beer run visiting in-laws when wife suggested we check out a gun shop near their house. The ARs were long gone, but they had some other nice stuff, such as Wilson Combat .45s and Volquartsen pistols. They had a few...

CZ 452 .22 LUX Not as Advertised - What to Do?

If Sam1911 bought what was advertised to be a diamond and found out later it was cubic zirconium, but looked just as good, he apparently would be fine with that. Glad the OP eventually got what he wanted.

Shelf life of CMP mil-surp ammo

I have some old 30.06 cmp ammo in a wood crate and cans inside. Sits in my garage. Works when I bring some out to shoot. Seems pretty durable.

Many SAFE discussions. Anyone UNHAPPY with their safe?

My Liberty safe's S&G electronic lock fritzed out after about a year or so. A locksmith with an email diagram from S&G of where to drill took 2 days and 3 holes to get inside it. A safe guy on here told me that there is a difference between a locksmith and a safe-tech, so that may be a key...

    NRA Life Membership $300 Again

I took advantage of this offer a year or two ago. Can't beat it. For those concerned about junk mail, I get nothing but the American Rifleman magazine, and maybe one other item per year, since I followed this advice on the NRA site. Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from...

Thanks for the tip on Willis Arms. That's a great rate for transfers. I'll bookmark that site and spread the word.

    Good FFL in Shreveport, LA

Clark's Guns & Personal Defense used to be the best local shop (over in Bossier), but it closed a while back, and the owners went on the pro shooting circuit. Clark Custom Guns is another option, but is out in the country near Princeton. Ron's Guns is a small shop in Bossier that is...

    Customer Service thread

Ruger: Great. replaced broken bolt in Mark II with no questions, and shipping paid. Years after warranty expired. Won my loyalty. Kel-Tec: Replaced part with no questions. Great job. Truglo: Original 2X scope had a loose lens. They replaced it with a new and better version. I sent a $12...

$300 NRA life membership is back

The tip below, from the NRA site, worked for me. I also unsubscribed from email via the link at the bottom of the emails. All I get is American Rifleman magazine (plus a new life membership card the other day). ***************** Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from...

Has anyone ever open carried a rifle or shotgun in public?

Some friends recently saw a young man carrying a rifle as he walked down the street in our medium size southern city. Open carry is legal in our state. They also saw a policeman stop, get out of his car, draw his weapon, and address the fellow. Not sure what happened after that. My friends...
