    best $400 22 bolt action ?

There's another Russkie you could look into too, the TOZ-78, which also comes with an adjustable trigger. Getting harder to find, now that they sell under the Winchester Wildcat name with a lawyer trigger for more money :uhoh: They shoot great and run less than $200, so you could have a...

took the new Russkie Biathalon out for first itme today

Centerfire Sytems has them in 22LR and 22WMR for $329.99 last time I looked. That's about the usual price for a new one.

    July 2008 Rimfire Match

On the accu-trigger, normally they come set at the lowest, which for the Rimfires seems pretty heavy. You can lower it by removing the spring and cutting off a coil or so. As for the CM-2s, they're pretty universally good shooters, but lack in the accessory department. They've got an accessory...

    Savage Mk II users?

I've got one in 17HM2 and it drives tacks. Mossberg535, have you contacted SavageArms about your lemon? I imagine if you explained your problem to them, they'd fix it for you for little (shipping) to nothing.

took the new Russkie Biathalon out for first itme today

If you watch the videos of Biathletes using the Larsen upgraded Izhmash Biathlon 7-4, you'd be amazed how much better it can be. They use a different bolt handle and a pistol grip stock. They flick it open with their trigger finger and snap it shut with their thumb in one quick and smooth...

    best $400 22 bolt action ?

I bought my Russian Biathlon Basic 7-2 for $320 and it shoots as well as the CZs. The Biathlon Basic compares pretty well to a CZ 452 Varmint, having a heavy barrel and no sights. The plus sides to the Biathlon over the CZ is the standard Weaver Rail to make for plenty of ring choices and the...

    July 2008 Rimfire Match

Nice shootin' Plinky. How do you like the FVT? I came very close to ordering one for myself. I'm hitting the range tomorrow, so maybe another entry for me if I get any time on the Biathlon.

Talk me back into a 700

I went with the Savage 10FP for my .308 and have no doubt I made the right choice. Here she is with her Bell & Carlson stock I got to replace the flimsy synthetic one. Seems the only target I have was from my first load development session at 100yds. Each shot had .3gr more powder than the one...

    I has a new rifle

I love my Biathlon Basic, great gun for the money! I put a BSA 36x44mm on her at first but she's wearing a Mueller APV now. Btw, I'm Mr_Ouija over at RFC too ;)

    single shot .22's

I've only got one single shot 22, and its an old russian match rifle (Vostok CM-2). She's been abused her whole life but still can put 5 through the same hole with the factory peep sights, heck, she shot well enough to max out this months rimfire challenge. :what: I'd check into the pawn shop...

Old Stevens .22 (A pleasant day at the range)

I think the only way to make that CM-2 shoot better is to replace the trigger nut (me), but I think I will recut the crown to be sure. :)

Old Stevens .22 (A pleasant day at the range)

Those Stevens mags look nearly identical to the Rem 5-teen mags and the Savage MkII mags. The difference being how they're held in place on the spine and followers. The metal follower in the 5-teen mag allows 6 rounds to be loaded, where the Savage MkII mag's polymer follower only allows 5. The...

    July 2008 Rimfire Match

I appreciate the kind words guys. I was a little unimpressed with her until I got some range time in. This was my first time shooting her and I couldn't be happier. Now to refinish the wood and clean up the sights to turn her into a looker as well as a shooter. If I get some more range time...

Old Stevens .22 (A pleasant day at the range)

Couldn't tell you where its been before me, I bought her used from CDNN and they don't give any extra info. I am pleasantly surprised, especially after I brought her home from the range and found a ding in the crown that could be effecting accuracy. I noticed a few other little things and will...

Old Stevens .22 (A pleasant day at the range)

Red Tornado: Yes, that's the one. I haven't got a complete range report yet, but did a lot of shooting Sunday... about 6 hours worth. She's in pretty rough shape but shoots just fine. Thread is here.

If there was an impending AWB what would you buy (specific choices)

Personally, I'd go for a complete rifle. AFAIK the bill references lawfully owned 'assault weapons' being grandfathered. I don't think they'd agree that a lower receiver counts as an assault weapon unless it is attached to an upper. In that case, your lowers might well become paperweights after...

Will Taking off the Stock of My Rifle Affect Accuracy?

Yes, your point of impact can change any time you take your rifle apart. If your barrel is free-floating, be sure it still is when you reinstall the action, otherwise your groups may suffer. Like others have said, be mindful of torque on the action screw(s). On another forum, we've found we're...

Ak pic thread minus the 47

Not pictured are the Romanian G and another AMD-65 with cut barrel and no folding stock (cannibalized it for the AMD-65!). I got an extra RomyG barrel, stock and rear trunnion for the second AMD-65 to build it up as an AMD-63.

Interesting tidbit on the Hungarian AMD-65

You could turn it around if you wanted, about a 3 minute job. The pistol grip nut goes in at an angle to match the pistol grip so the screw goes straight in.

Old Stevens .22 (A pleasant day at the range)

Haha! I picked up two old (the no serial #, old) .22 rifles from a pawn shop, then ended up getting the beat up russkie. The russkie shoots like a new rifle, though she obviously has been heavily used and abused by every owner prior to me.
