AR Pistol Buffer Tubes - supply vs demand

I didn't figure this belonged in the Legal channel where we have a good discussion going on the ATF ruling regarding pistol stabilizing braces. As soon as I read through the 293-page ruling last weekend, I ordered an Aero Precision pistol buffer assembly (i.e. the buffer tube is smooth with no...

Hornady 450 Bushmaster 250 FTX for Florida hogs?

I have never hunted hogs before but will have the opportunity to do a chartered hunt this summer in central Florida. I have a 20" 450 Bushmaster AR and factory Hornady 250 grain FTX ammo but am concerned I may want a tougher bullet. Any experienced folks here to advocate for this bullet or...

.450 Mongo (again) - possible bullet mold available

I went back and looked at several threads here for the .450 Mongo and several are locked for new posting, so here's a new thread. I'm not going to rehash the whole subject, basically using longer brass in .45 Colt/.410 chambered guns to get the bullet closer to the rifling than standard .45...

Handy new portable shooting bench (work bench)

I just got my new Keter folding workbench today for use as a portable shooting table and it looks promising. It's not as stable as concrete, but a lot more portable. I got this one from Northern Tool because it was the only model that I saw with the extendable legs that give it the full 33.7"...

Speer .451 260 grain JHP performance vs velocity?

I can't find much of anything online regarding how this bullet performs on deer at various velocities, or what the velocity limit should be before it grenades. Hornady has a nice velocity range chart for it's XTP bullets, but I found nothing similar for Speer. I have the option to use these...

    CAI WASR-10 unintentional doubling shots

Hello folks. I let my brother in-law, my son, and my nephew shoot my WASR-10 AK on the range today and all three of them experienced unintentional doubles (BANG-BANG!). This has never been an issue for me shooting this rifle. It seemed worse for the boys (14 and 16) and worse when they were...

Do-it "slingshot" mold for buckshot - size question

The 1/10 oz size cavities on the Do-it brand slingshot mold are supposed to throw .310" pellets. That's halfway between O buck and #1 buck. Does anybody have experience with this mold? With this size pellet, would I have to use a recipe for the larger O buck size or can it work with #1 buck...

Identify this shotgun used by Sudanese anti-poaching squad

Can you identify this shotgun? Looks Mossberg 590-ish, but that's not a barrel I've ever seen.

Adding rifle sights to H&R Pardner single-shot?

I bought an 8" rifled insert in .38 Special for 12 gauge and there's a H&R Pardner at my LGS for cheap. Does anyone know a feasible way to add rifle sights to a H&R Pardner that only has a front bead? I don't much care if it's beautiful, the rest of this gun isn't other than the color case...

Ever see a mag capacity ban supported by facts?

Serious question. Has anyone here ever seen an argument for limiting magazine capacity to X number of rounds based on any sort of statistical analysis of crimes? Or any other credible facts or modeling? Why is 10 rounds considered "reasonable" by the anti-gun crowd? Why not make it nine? Or...

    Powder coated bullets and suppressors

My AAC TiRant.45 suppressor documentation said not to use cast bullets. I suppose the fear is lead and fouling build up? Is there any consensus whether powder coated bullets are better/ok for suppressors not intended to be disassembled for cleaning?

    Soda Blasting

I recently bought a Hungarian AP-63 pistol from SOG (.32 ACP). The frame is supposedly an aluminum-titanium alloy and the black factory paint was chipping and worn in several places. I couldn't easily sand off the paint around/behind the trigger and I didn't want to detail strip the weapon...

http://www.monmouthreloading.com/ I just got an e-mail for a sale they're running this weekend on 2,000 count Hornady 55 grain bullets, SP or FMJ. Use the promo code "LABORDAY16" at check out, saved me $14 off the $154.99 price for the SP bullets and USPS shipping was only $6.80. I ordered...

Keep it "unfired" or shoot it?

I bought a H&R .45-70 Buffalo Classic several years ago on a whim and it's been hanging over my fireplace ever since. Recently I even bought a box of ammo for it, but I still have not fired it. I keep it clean and oiled so it's not suffering. Since H&R has stopped making rifles, it's got me...

    my brass-catching tent

I tested out my new Makarov and my new brass-catching umbrella tent thing today. I used mesh tarps cliped to an umbrella and it worked very well. I did still manage to lose one casing out of 100 fired. You think you have it covered, then statistics kicks in.

RCBS rifle die - "plain" seating stem?

Just reloaded my first 20 rounds of .308 softpoint (150 grain Winchester bullets). Cases were all carefully trimmed and I'm crimping separately with a Lee collet crimper, but the location of the canelure (sp?)to case mouth is varying more than I'd like. OAL is consistent, though. I suspect...

aftermarket (lol) trigger for Lee-Enfield rifle?

I have a No. 4 Mk 1 that I have redone in .45 ACP. Are there any "drop in" options or would I have to work with what's already there?

New wet tumbler - still need to chamfer/debur case mouths?

I just got a Rebel 17 wet media tumbler kit, love it. I'm wondering if I can skip the chamfer/debur step after trimming rifle brass if it's going to go through the tumbler? Anyone tried this?

Super Comanche pistol - refinish, lockwork

My latest polished turd... Used to be a nickel finish Super Comanche, now it has black Cerakote and "instinctive sights". I photographed the lockwork before I reinstalled it in hopes that if someone else is dumb enough to disassemble a Super Comanche, it might help them get it put back together.

    pump-up paintball gun

<deleted> I am desperate to find a paint ball marker that you can pump up like an air rifle, but shoots paint balls. I need something I can use to scare my 4 cats away from our bird feeder. I come home to avian crime scenes INSIDE MY HOUSE almost every day and the clean up sucks. I don't...
