    Recommendations for Gun Insurance

Hi Everyone, In past years, I've had gun insurance for theft with the NRA Lockton program. I found that they never emailed me to keep my informed of my insurance renewals and it was too easy for my policy to lapse. I just got off the phone with a Lockton representative and asked if the policy...

Do you remember your first handgun? What was it, when was it & where is it today?

My first gun was a Smith & Wesson .44 magnum Mountain gun. I was living in Colorado and wanted a woods gun for when I was hiking and camping. My then wife adopted the gun as her own, and when we got divorced she ended up getting it as part of our settlement. After the divorce, I upgraded to a...

Do you ever show your CCW when asked for photo ID?

Useful as backup ID I used my CCW once when I was flying and left my Driver's License at home. I was flying from Colorado Springs to Oklahoma City and the TSA agents on both ends didn't blink. I was glad to have it as backup ID. Now I carry my passport for that purpose.

Brady Campaign Board Member Gets CCW

I also posted a comment, but it says that it's awaiting moderation. Thing is, I made the comment two days ago and comments time stamped after mine have been posted. I won't hold my breath for it to be posted. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but my experience is that extreme liberals...

Phoenix Cabellas Trip last night: Ammo bubble has burst.

Not much at Sportsmans Warehouse in Colorado Springs I read this thread yesterday so today while I was running errands I stopped by the Sportsmans Warehouse in Colorado Springs. There was very little in the way of ammo. The handgun ammo was basically wiped out with only a few odd calibers...

    Does your significant other shoot?

My wife has come around from not liking handguns to learning how to shoot. I can't say she really enjoys it but she's joined me in the prepper movement and figures knowing how to shoot couldn't hurt. Now she tells me she'll look for ammo at Walmart when she goes food shopping. I even catch...

Letter to Newtown BB Nails It

I love the letter but I wish he hadn't stated that he's never owned a gun and then gone on to publish his street address. I hope he and his family stay safe.

    Colorado Mag Ban

I'm disappointed in the way Colorado is moving. My family and I moved here eight years ago and we love this state, but now that the children are grown we're looking at other states like Idaho and Montana.

    The faces of THR

Competition for the cool picture award. Picture shows me at Independence Pass in Colorado near Aspen and the other picture is with my dog on a hike near Cripple Creek, Colorado. You can guess where the last picture was taken.

    Walmart is king again

Sportsmans' Warehouse in Loveland, CO I was at the Sportsmans' Warehouse in Loveland, CO earlier this evening and they had ammo overall IF you weren't looking for .223/5.56, 9mm or 22LR (I can't speak to AK ammo as I wasn't looking for it). I did notice they were also out of 30-30 but had a...

    Fox "News" not our friend

I don't watch O'Reilly that often but I did see his show with Bob Costas. At that time O'Reilly made the argument that people in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting would have been better off if they had had their own gun. Who knows, maybe he really believes that or maybe it was just...

Need advice on United Airlines firearms rules

TenDriver and ColoradoKevin, Thanks for your comments. I am flying out of Colorado Springs and connecting through Houston. The regs definitely say the luggage should be hard sided, but good to hear that regular soft-sided luggage seems to be OK. Intrepid Dad

Need advice on United Airlines firearms rules

Good advice. I'm definitely leaving enough time. I plan to show up almost 2 hours early. Also, I bought a nice hard shell case from Sportsman's Warehouse with a double lock. TSA should be good with it. I do worry about it showing up on the luggage carousel before I show up but it will be hidden...

Need advice on United Airlines firearms rules

Thank you Thanks to all for your quick replies. I scoured the stores around me since I was scrambling at the last minute (shame on me). I found a small foot locker at Walmart that's big enough to take my hard shell gun case. It isn't the ideal solution but I think it will do the trick. On...

Need advice on United Airlines firearms rules

I'm preparing for a trip on Christmas Eve (2012) to Florida. I've read the rules for traveling with a firearm at the United Airlines website. I've also searched the forum here for any related threads but could not find any. According to United's website, I need to have my unloaded handgun...

MASSIVE new gun range in Colorado!!

Dang! If it was 30 minutes south of Denver I'd be all in. But living in Colorado Springs, it'd be a bit of a hike to get there. :(
