Why is the Remington 580 .22LR single-shot so exciting? Caliber conversions?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread. Wish I had seen this thread when it was fresh. You were the victim of an actionable offense. They took your property. Doesn't matter that they took the receipt away, NICS could have proven the transaction took place. As for the reason I found this...

    Virginia Arms (Manassas, VA) Robbery

From the looks of things on the video Bernie may have lost ALL of his display cases. Looked like the truck hit the first one and drove it right down the line like dominos. Insured or not, this will cost Virginia Arms some money. I'm going to visit tomorrow and find something to buy. Every...

    DC gun storage

Negative on lockers at the NRA, not sure about Blue Ridge. Have you considered asking one of the local shops to put it on their books for a few days and transfer it back on your way south? Fee should be nominal. Gilberts Small Arms Range is a Hop, Skip and Jump off of I95 in Springfield. Try...

    Bought a FN Fiveseven

I had a chance to rip a few rounds through one about a month ago. Very flat shooting gun-easy to track the front sight. The safety/selector was a little goofy IIRC but the trigger was very good. I specifically recall that it had a quick reset.

Where can I find Surplus 124 gr. Nato 9mm?? in Case lots?

http://botach.com/IMI/IMIAmmo/9mm%20124gr%20FMJ.htm By all accounts IMI ammo is excellent stuff. $139/1000 shipped. Botach, on the other hand, is a crap shoot. I haven't had a problem but others have.

Seacamp .32 acp. Opinions from owners.

Tupperware said: "Overated, overpriced and UNDERsupported. Mine had a serious factory defect (tumbling bullets which shed their jackets)" Tuner said: "I'd be inclined to think that was an ammo problem rather than a gun problem." Tuner, If you saw the bore on my example you wouldn't...

    Nickel Plating Kel-Tec P32 slide?

Nickel plating requires care when cleaning. Ammonia based solvents can be a problem if left in contact for too long. I won't use ammonia on a nickel finish at all. Did you know that KelTec will exchange your complete upper with one that has been hard-chromed for $20.00? This is a more durable...

Seacamp .32 acp. Opinions from owners.

I HAD a Seecamp and here are my thoughts. Overated, overpriced and UNDERsupported. Mine had a serious factory defect (tumbling bullets which shed their jackets) and the fax and follow-up letter requesting help both went unanswered. Purchased a Kel-Tec and have no regrets! It has a better...

Unusual? malfunction w/Bushy AR please help

beta, From your description it appears that you have adequate retention of the buffer. I'm more concerned with your description of the buffer "extending into the upper". In a rifle that is in spec this would not be possible. You were probably looking at the side of the bolt carrier. Check for...

Unusual? malfunction w/Bushy AR please help

What was the cause of the FTF? Bad ammo? You may have NO problems with your rifle at all. Your detent probably got out of place when you removed the buffer tube housing. I've seen rounds stuck the way you describe that would not allow the charging handle to retract. Usually all that is required...

How good is PMP (South African) ammo?

SA .223 was filthy with so-so accuracy out of several AR's. Due to this experience I haven't been too interested in trying any 9mm. I'm interested in what others have to say. Sparks indicate the presence of steel. This tempers my enthusiasm for it as well.

Can a 357 SIG make a bowling pin explode?

Haven't found any caliber that can make one explode. Have shot pins with handgun rounds up to 50AE and .223 and .308 from rifles. 50AE carried the pin from the table almost into the bullet trap 20 feet or so away.

    Gun for my mom

"something she can slip in her (rahter large) purse if she wants to carry" Sorry for taking this thread in a different direction but please try to persuade your mother NOT to carry in her purse. Besides the fact that it's probably the main thing a bad guy would want from her, would she be...

    Thoughts on Shoulder Holsters?

Some things for shoulder carry proponents to think about: Most self-defense scenarios have you engaging the bad guy at very close distance, frequently contact distance. With a shoulder rig, should you instinctively quarter to the bad guy while striking him with your weak side arm (to gain...

    Question on SW 27-2

Assuming you have a squeaky clean revolver and that you've made sure the rod is straight, I'd look at the tip of the rod itself as the source of the problem. When a revolver is hard to open, randomly, it is usually not truly a "random" event. You will typically find one cylinder position where...
