    62 gr. v. 75 gr. in an AR-15?

Last weekend I took a 20" AR-15 to the range and after firing a magazine of the 75 gr. .223 with which it was zeroed, I tried, for s&g, a magazine I had with me of IMI M193. The gun was fine with the 75 gr., but the M193 was way off, low and left. Enough to make me wonder about IMI ammo. So...

    .45 ACP AR 15s

Bazooka Brothers ETA: Both uppers are Olys. The left lower is using Uzi mags with a magblock welded on while the right lower is a first generation* Bazooka Bros. that uses grease gun mags. *New BAZ45 lowers are CNC machined.

Which semi auto is best combo for plinking/hogs

I have or have had five ARs in 7.62x39 (Model 1 x2, ArmaLite, Bushmaster and AR Performance) and magazines are just not a problem anymore, and haven't been for a few years. The 30s are pretty big (as are AK 30s) so I mostly use 10 and 20 rounders.

    The AR Platform Has Won

You can have a bolt action AR. Just get an adjustable gas block and turn the gas off - presto! A bolt action. And you can get a side charger if that makes it a little more familiar.

An optic for an AR-15 hog gun?

Well he just called me from the gun show (I didn't know he was going today) with news of his Eotech 512 he got for $360 (I surely hope it's real). A side note: I have both Aimpoint Micro and Vortex Sparc red dots, and they are good sights. But I also have a Primary Arms red dot and oddly...

An optic for an AR-15 hog gun?

Thanks for the input folks; I think he's got some comparison shopping to do now that he knows there's a decent middle ground between NCStar and Trijicon.

An optic for an AR-15 hog gun?

Can you suggest an optic for my cousin? He's got a 16" 7.62x39 AR-15 with which he'd like to do some hog hunting. What he'd like is a 1-4X scope with a quick detach mount and his budget is ~$350. He doesn't need to be combat capable. I rarely shoot with a scope so I'm not really conversant...

What mags work with a 7.62x39 upper on an AR?

A.S.C. LLC is the current proprietor of what were the C Products magazines in 10 and 30 round capacities. They work for me. The MWG plastic mags work for some people and not for others. I'm in the second group there. For 20 round magazines I've had good luck with the out of production USA...

    M16A1 receiver .. barrel options?

In a similar boat here, I just bought a stripped 20" government profile and sent it off to be recontoured to the A1 profile (.625" gas block/FSB area, .570" ahead of that, slight flare just before the muzzle threads). I found the undrilled non-F marked FSB and skinny barrel handguard cap on...

AR-15 A1 NM rear sight aperture

Thanks, but the A2 aperture is not what I'm looking for.

AR-15 A1 NM rear sight aperture

Does anybody make one? Or have they in the past? I know an A2 NM aperture will work, but this is for a retro gun.

    Learning about AR rifles

I think you may mean the forward assist. It has a pawl that extends when you push the knob, or button, that engages the serrations on the bolt carrier to assist in pushing the bolt into battery. Some like having it, some don't. The best use I've heard for it is it can allow you to charge...

    Shooting range orientation

The range where I usually shoot is oriented such that we shoot from south to north and that seems to work well as the sun is never a problem. Of late I've been hunting around for some land to acquire and if I do buy something I'll want to fix up my own range. The couple of acreage parcels...

Any resident Colt experts/employees care to chime in?

You can buy an M16. Or, for the same money, about 15-20 AR-15s
