Kimber Micro 9 - trigger kit

Anyone else have experience with the MCARBO trigger kit for a Micro 9? I got a new Micro 9 last week and took it to the range yesterday. It was accurate if I did my part, but that trigger is stout. I think Kimber states its 6 or 7 lbs. MCARBO has a kit for $25 that has a new hammer, firing...

Best Caliber? Modest Recoil for Antelope at 300/400 yards

I grew up in eastern MT hunting prairie goats and yeah, they aren't that big. I used. .243 as did my brother. No issues. One thing to note is they are jumpy critters and tend to spook and run easily. If they run a lot, the meat isn't great. We usually had it all processed as summer sausage.

That gun in the back of your safe, the one you never shoot

HA! Sums up my experience as well, although mine was an M44. Beautiful laminate stock, great looking rifle. But the bolt was miserable. I tried every trick on the 'net that offered up a solution to fix it. Nothing worked. I think it was the lacquer covered surplus ammo. Sold it for slightly...

9mm plated 124 gr. with TiteGroup

My standard 9mm load is 124gr X-Treme plated over 4.1gr Titegroup. COL is 1.14. Good range stuff that works well in my XD9. My Smith 3913 didn't like it as much (not as accurate). I've shot a lot that load, in fact just dug out 2 ziploc bags full of it as I am hoping to hit the range tomorrow...

    Mak of the Woods

Love my Mak. In fact I was prepping brass (cutting down 9x19) yesterday to load up for a range trip. I bought 1000 Berry's 95gr bullets 2 weeks ago. Just need more brass!

    titegroup-9mm

Titegroup is what I use for 9mm and it does well in 9x18 Makarov as well. I load it around mid range charges to allow for a bit of variance. 4.1 grain TG for 124gr plated in 9mm. It's a bit dirty in the Makarov (low charge plus blow back action) but accuracy with coated bullets was very good.

    Makarov Value?

The log books that come with some of the Bulgarian Maks is nothing more than a generic equipment log. When I got mine I spent awhile with Google Translate typing in the words from the book. Same log book could have been used with anything from trucks to guns to whatever requires a maintenance log.

    9mm Mak

I bought one of the unissued Bulgarian Maks. Stupid accurate and fun the shoot. I need another. And an IWB holster.

    Depriming Military Brass (5.56x45mm)

I ran across some of the IK headstamp as well. Small flash holes - I just sorted and tossed them, Not worth the extra effort.

Before putting a bullet into the shell casing....

I charge each case manually with Lee PPM and then place them in a reloading block. 1. 'Dump' each pistol case prior to adding powder to make sure no double charges using Titegroup. 2. Weigh the powder in every 10th round just to make sure my powder measure is still dropping consistently. 3...

    Rifle case lubes

Imperial wax for me as well. I bought the round tin years ago and am still not close to using it up (although to be fair I load more pistol than rifle). Rub my fingers in it every few rounds, wipe it on the case and good to go. Every 5th or so round I use a case brush to put a bit inside the...

    Powder for 9mm SD load

Titegroup for me as well, but I haven't loaded any 147gr bullets. 4.1gr powder for 124gr plated which is my normal load. For SD I have Hornady Critical Defense factory loads.

    Thinking of buying an SR556

Another mid range option is Aero Precision. Then you have plenty left over (like 1000) for mags, ammo, optic, etc. Also, no AR chambered in .223/5.56 has recoil that will 'pound you' no matter how light the gun. Heck CDNN has a deal right now for a Colt 6920 for $900. Then as I said, buy...

Range Report: 9MM and AA #5

I have a couple pounds of AA#5 that I bought for Makarov loads. I was happy with the results so I am going to try it in 9mm as well. It seemed to get better accuracy towards the mid to high end charge weight so I am going to start in the middle for 9mm.

May Have Finally Found Some Varget In Stock!

Local bass pro had varget, unique, power pistol and many many others in stock last weekend. No cfe pistol which was what I was hoping to try. Might swing in there tomorrow a and grab another pound or two even though I don't *need* any.
