    CCW permit as ID

Concealed means Concealed! I would not do anything to advertise that I am carrying. The first time, it was probably alright, but I would not make it a habit of using it for ID. In the first place, you might let the wrong people know that you are carrying, and then they just start their bad...

My black powder days may be on the decline.

Differences with 777 I shot 777 for a while here in Oregon until I got my flinter... the ignition point is higher than BP, so a good cap is a must! (we used RWS caps) Problem with 777 it that it turns to mud when wet and you can't just dry it out like BP. Not the best for coastal hunting...

    sending stuff home?

Storage Unit! Don't be quick to consider this an option! I live in a state where firearms may not be stored in a storage unit. (the humidity and changes in temperature are not good also!) +1 for a gunsmith... Also look to American Legion or VFW, those guys recognize your plight... Build...

    .45 cal. Flintlock loads

Most new traditional smokepoles shoot low! Common practice is to get them on paper at twenty five yards, adjust the windage (right and left) and then move out to fifty yards. All of mine have taken filing on the front blade to get enough adjustment out of the rear sight.(better too much than...

+1 on that! We just got brand new M-4's with m-68's, quad-rail forearm, and buis's. I know we have lights in inventory for later... good stuff!! You've got time. see what they've got, more will be available later, trust me! You're going into a combat zone, they don't skimp on weapons!

Poll please hit! CCW in schools

Need some activism! I voted, but there are a lot of uninformed people out there. How about Concealed Carry on Campus and more community activism for the shooting sports. :) Not a local, but we gotta fight the fight to keep the right!! :D I can't beleive that St. Lewis is that...

    Lymans Rifles?

Rule of Thumb on powder charge: start with a number of grains equal to the caliber of the rifle, and adjust to find a clean shooting accurate load for the powder that you use. My .54 likes almost 60gr of FFFg behind a PRB...Mind you, it's not too humid here most of the time. I recommend...

    New 10/22 Custom Build Help

10/22 build stuff I like the butler creek barrel/stock combos... .920 barrel, blue or stainless, and a synthetic stock w/.920 channel and sling swivels. (I like it over the Hogue I prefer the volquartsen hammer kit, its a little lighter than the PC... Clark custom guns has a nice...

Show your kit! lubed patch container ideas?

+1 altoids tin also, I have a wood block with 10 .54 cal holes in it. I load my patch and ball into each hole, and push it through with my short starter at the range. the block has a lanyard and I hang it around my neck so I don't have to root in the possible bag.

Lyman GP powder and ball recipe needed

I was using 62gr 3f goex, primed with 4f goex on a 530 speer RB with a .17 patch. Have recently had good luck with schuetzen powder... Works well in the dry side of the mountains. Most of our shooting is standing on our hind legs, because you're walking around and the rifle loads the best in...

What to do when it comes to accurate .22lr rifles....

+1 cz452zkm (military trainer w/ irons)... I love mine If you want to work on you AR skills, consider a DPMS 22lr upper for your AR-15. I saw one for $535, but I haven't shopped for bargains yet. wt. and dimensions are the same as your AR. +1 Ruger 10/22($159) add .920 barrel &...

    Zeroing Leupold MK4 10x40mm M3

The Leupold scope in question is marked in 100m increments from 100m to 1000m. (says so in the description) I believe M3 turrets are .5 moa per click elevation, but for a given distance, you can just turn it up to the range that your target is at. Yes, you will have to zero and conduct...

Just curious... 77gr SMK in a milspec upper

heavy bullets, tighter twist! I just bought 1000 more 77gr MK's for HighPower Shooting and it states right on the box "for 1:7 and 1:8 barrels only". I have had good luck with 77gr in my 1:8 barrel, should me fine in your barrel as long as you have enough twist. Many "mil-spec" uppers are...

Red dot or electroni type for AR type rifle?

Depends on Course of fire Leupold is nice, but Eotech is a better close-quarter optic... I also favor Trijicon ACOG's if budget will allow and you need range. I love the ACOG at range... I'm not as sure on the close stuff- need to run drills for time. Consider all the options, and find what...

    Spotting Scopes

Quality Optics! I would love to have a Kowa scope, but found when I was looking at them that they had no real warranty. I found locally a 20-60x80 Leupold Sequoia that is just as bright and clear with a lifetime warranty for $200 less than the Kowa. Try them out, shop around, get what works...

    High Power Service Grade suggestions.

Just get started If you talk to the guys at the match, you will see what works. I started with a M1A and no scope. I saw that AR's pushing heavy bullets (77 and 80gr) did not give up points to M1's and M1A's. There is less recoil in the rapids, and less intensive maintenance to maintain...

    Is Google anti-military/Vets/memorial day?

Slow the train down! It's not like they posted a negative image for the day, they just went with the standard Google logo. Thain hit the nail on the Head! Google is going for the Worldwide Market, so posting imagery for national holidays doesn't fit their mission plan. I appreciate...
