July 4th barbecue or a failed America...your choice.

Link: http://www.reteaparty.com/ There will be many messages and ideas represented but they all have a common undertone: Stop taxing us to death for socialists programs we do not want.

A RKBA Victory in the most unlikely of places

I live in Los Angeles, yes, the epicenter of the anti-gun movement. Well, things appear to be changing even here. Last night, we voted in Carmen Trutanich as the city's new attorney. He is a long standing pro-gun attorney, who over the last 20 years has represented the NRA, gun manufacturers...

    STI 2011 grip...how to remove

Could anyone lend advice as to how to remove the plastic grip from an STI 2011 pistol? I've removed both of the larger screws on the grip itself and the smaller hex screws just in front of the trigger guard. The grip is not budging. Any suggestions?

Will you help us fight here on the front lines?

Anti gun politicians grow like weeds here in Los Angeles. For the first time in a LONG time, we have a good chance to elected someone that supports the 2nd amendment. You may have heard that there will be a runoff election in May between Weiss and Trutanich for LA city Attorney. Trutanich...

A SHALL issue CCW opportunity in California

I just spoke with Assemblymember Knight's office in Sacramento. He has introduced a bill (AB357) that would make California a SHALL issue state for CCWs. While it's always a good idea to contact YOUR assemblyman to show support of the bill, Mr Knight's assistant urged me to send or fax a...

    Gold dot front sites

I'm thiking of changing the front site on my 1911 and I'd like to try a gold dot in a standard dovetail cutout. Anyone know of a manufacturer? I know that Pistol Dynamics makes a gold dot front site but it utilizes a non-standard installation.

Anyone in the California 34th Congressional District?

The incumbent, Lucille Roybal-Allard, gets an "F" rating from the NRA. Her challanger, a Republican named Christopher Balding, gets an "A". I met him this morning at his apartment where he gave me flyers to pass out in my building. Seems like a good guy and I like most of his political...

Alternatives to copper, brass and lead

This war will end as all wars do and when it does, I suspect demand for ammunition will decrease, which may affect prices downwards. However, given the ever increasing demand for these metals from countries undergoing their industrial revolutions (China, India, etc), I think prices will...

    AR optics

Long time IPSC shooter. Just picked up my first AR 15 and might get into 3 gun competition. What optics do you recommend?

Email conversation with a Judge to be

We have an election coming up in June here in California. I was looking at those running for judges. Most of the incumbents were officially endorsed by Sheriff Baca, a notorious socialist gun grabber. Therefore, I was looking at those running against the incumbents and decided to email some...

California Residents, call your Assembly member!

I'm hoping any CA residents will call their assembly member to OPPOSE AB2062, a motion that would significantly diminish our ability to purchase "handgun" ammunition. Of course, since ANY ammo that can be fired in a rifle can also be fired in a handgun, this is nothing more than a back door...

    Looking for compelling CCW stats

Anyone know of an unbiased and thorough study that proves increasing the number of conceal carry permits reduces violent crime? Such a study would have to be from a non-biased entity (or better yet, a left leaning entity). It would have to factor in overall trends in crime throughout the...

    Getting properly fitted, shotgun measurers

Does anyone know of a good shotgun measurer in the West, preferably in California? I've decided to order a custom shotgun but first need some that can do a proper fitting. Someone with good try-guns that will take the time to shoot into patterning boards. Ideally, I'd like to get measured for...

Fine shotgun dealer in Las Vegas?

I'm planning a trip to LV and would love to check out any dealers with fine shotguns, particularly Spanish and Italians guns but I'd make the trip to anyone selling shotguns other than the standard fair you can find anywhere. Who's got the good stuff in LV?

Are conceal carry permit holders as well trained with their sidearm as the cops?

I called into a radio station today (KPCC) that had LA chief of police Bratton as a guest. He's a notorious anti but I nevertheless posed this question: "There is a tremendous increase in the number of CC permits around the country and evidence to suggest crimes has increased in those areas...

    Loose primer pockets

When I reload for handguns, I toss any brass that has a loose primer pocket because I don't want to have it fall out during an IPSC match, make a mess and maybe catch fire. But what about rifle brass? While testing loads in my 30-06, I pushed the velocity a bit too much and began to see the...

    Long range elk cartridge

I've decided to build a rifle designed for Western elk that is capable with long range shots. What do you think is the ideal cartridge for this purpose? So far I've shortlisted: 8mm Remington Mag 338 Win Mag 350 Remington Mag 375 H&H Mag What do you think? Have I missed one to consider?

    Colt's rollermark

I have my eye on a 70's era Model 70 Colt, blued and practically unfired. I'm looking for the right platform to have a customer carry gun build...something very nice to my specs. The only thing that is of concern about this particular pistol is the rollermark is not well defined. It looks...

Saw a cop with sidearm on wrong side

Yesterday I saw a right-handed cop having lunch with his partner. He wrote right handed and had his watch on the left wrist but his sidearm was on the left. I realize cops are not quick draw specialists but wearing your holster on the weak-hand side just seems weird. Anyone ever seen this?

Over and under for clays and hunting

I participate in lots of shooting competitions (IPSC, IDPA, Bullseye, F class) where I have dedicated competition guns. I just don't have time to try and be truly competitive in Skeet! At least not for now. However, I've hunted birds, upland and ducks, my entire life and for the first time...
