Just an update to this thread in case someone needs the info for future reference... A Walmart in the greater Houston area indicated they could order the Marlin 336SS (stainless) .30-30 for $550. I think the model they usually stock is the Marlin 336W (blue).

Does anyone know what Walmart is selling the stainless Marlin 336 .30-30 for currently? None of the stores in my area carry firearms.

Houston-area cops have a reputation for this sort of thing. Lot of good ones though.

Collector's Firearms in Houston is the worst. It's a big store with lots of cases full of guns. Everytime you turn around, someone's got a gun pointed your way. Unsettling it is.

Walkalong, what did you dislike about the Mosquito?

I was going to purchase a Mosquito a few days ago and the shopkeeper talked me out of it. It appears to be a nice, little gun; too bad it doesn't live up to its billing.
