I'm thinking about getting a GP100 as my first revolver.
Just wondering, would it be worth paying the extra $$ to get a new one? Any issues to keep an eye out for when looking for a used one? I'm assuming about $475 new/$375 used. If that's the case, would you buy new or used?
anyone have good reticle pictures that show the difference between FFP and SFP scopes at different magnifications? I've been searching but can't find anything.
I'd like to get a small pistol that I can actually carry in the pocket of a pair of cargo pants, etc. Ideally a minimum of 9mm/.38. I know the S&W J Frames are really well thought of, and the Kahr PM9 looks like a nice alternative. Anyone have experience with either of those two, or maybe...
I bought my girlfriend a Surefire E2e to carry in her purse, but I would like to get her something a little more 'self defense' effective that she can carry with her when she's going from her car to work, or car to home, etc. A gun is out of the question, so we're talking less-than-lethal...
Or if you want a 14" 870, do you have to buy the 18" or 20" model, do a Form 1 and cut down a barrel, etc?
P.S. anyone know if just the 14" 870P barrels are available to non-LEO?
I'm just getting my first AR put together and I'm planning to get some training and probably a carbine class at some point. I just have almost no experience with rifles and I'd like to get a leg up before I develop bad habits.
Anyhow, here's what I've got right now...
RRA Complete Lower...
I'd like to find a nice case to carry both an M4 style carbine and an 18" Remington 870 in the same case (at the same time).
Is there anything (maybe softsided) out there that will tote both around?
I'm about to place an order at Brownells and I'm thinking about tweaking my new 870 a little. What shotgun mods have you guys found to actually be useful?
mag extension
big head safety
side saddle ammo holder
a good sling
maybe something I'm not thinking of?
I'm going to pick up my new 870 Police on Monday and I'd like to take it to the range and break it in a little. I know NOTHING about shotgun shells. So what should I look for in practice ammo? I want something cheap (BTW, what is considered cheap in 12ga shells?) that won't beat me to death.
If I understand this correctly, a plain muzzle will have the most flash, a muzzle brake much less, and the flash suppressor the least.
What I'm curious about it is how each effect the sound/noise and recoil...
I wanted to go ahead and get some gear so I can get used to it before the academy starts. I've never bought anything but the IDPA type kydex stuff. What brands should I be looking at?
If you have a handgun with a rail, isn't a weapon mounted light like a Surefire X200 the way to go? Is there any advantage to a handheld-only flashlight?
ground rules:
no derringers, must have at least a 5 shot capacity
no .22/.25/.32s
at least .380/.38/9mm caliber
reasonable size limit, something that could reasonably fit into khaki shorts
let's say you start the list with these:
Kel Tec P3AT
Kahr PM9
S&W shrouded hammer...
Let's say I have about a $300 budget and would like to pick up two rifles. I have my C&R, so that might be my best option. I'd like at least one to be a semi-auto, and availability of cheap ammo is a big plus. My first thought is an SKS and a K31. That might even leave room to go a little...
