Removing lube prior to Powder coating?

230gr.45acp by rhino210 posted Sep 19, 2017 at 12:25 AM I inherited 1000 .45acp 230gr lead cast bullets manufactured by the Houston Bullet Company. I want to powder coat them but think I would need to remove the blue lube first as well as any residue before doing that. What is the best and...

    SKS question

Think about some simple (cheeeeeep) mods first. I took my SKS, removed the bayonet, added a scout scope mount from "scoutscopes.com" in place of the rear sight, attached an inexpensive red dot scope, got a plain black sling and painted the entire stock with the black "crinkle' spray paint. It...

    Heard on COPS today-

BTW and DIY Biker gangs a long time ago figured out a way to take common pistol ammo as small as .25 caliber and make it into a "vest penetrating" round very simply but I have never heard of it ever being used against anyone. In use it would only leave a very, very small but possibly deep hole...

    Heard on COPS today-

Facts included but long read From Wikipedia (I know not exactly a proven source) " Armor-piercing ammunition is used to penetrate hardened armored targets such as body armor, vehicle armor, concrete, tanks and other defenses, depending on the caliber of the firearms. Armor-piercing ammunition...

Is this a good price on the Lee 4 hole turret?

Lee Primer catcher Just take a large coffee lid, cut out a hole to let the ram operate and use a small piece of two side sticky velcro to hold it down and go to work. If anyone wants a picture, I'll post it. I only lose one or two primers out of 100 when decapping.:D

    Long newbie question--40S&W and pressure

I am wanting to load some .40S&W for the first time. A friend gave me a set of dies, small primers and some180gr Ranier flat points. The loading info from Ranier says to treat them as you would plain lead. I will be using Clay’s or Win 231. I want to push the round at about 950-1000fps in an...

Red neck Case Tumbler (pat. pend.)

I originally thought that an “Odjob” brand cement mixer would make a great tumbler drum for processing large case amounts. If you’re not familiar the Odjob it is for mixing a single bag of concrete at a time by rolling it around after adding water and concrete. They are pricy but with the...

OAL as it relates to the length of the bullet

I just reloaded some Hrndy 165gr BTSP in 30-06. The OAL is 3.3” as given by references. It is loaded in R-P cases over 50grs of IMR4064. I am new to reloading so I am working out some concepts in my mind. I understand that if you diminish the case capacity by seating the bullet deeper you...

    Primer catcher

I am using a Lee turret press that does NOT have the hollow ram and plastic drain tube that the Classic turret press has. The slot on the ram where the primers pop out does not match any handy recesses or hole on the press and the spent primers go wherever. I made a "primer catcher" out of an...
