I am preparing to order my first Sig. I've settled on the P220 Equinox, but can't decide if I should go with the standard or carry version. The standards barrel lenght is 4.4" and the carries barrel is 3.9". Can someone tell me what the real difference will be to me? Why should I get the longer...

I must confess that at 15 yards I wasn't sure I could even see the target much less hit the thing, but I impressed even myself. I almost never practice much past 7 yards or so, and even then I only have a total of about 600 rounds down the pipe since starting shooting about 2 months or so ago...

I have 2, .45 cartridges, #1 is a 230g, 950 fps @ 461 ft/lb...#2 is a 165g, 1250 fps @ 573 ft/lb. Help me to understand the real difference between the two. Why would I choose #1 vs #2 (or any size in between for that matter) for self defense purposes? I do not really understand the differences...
