    CAR buttstock

Can anyone tell me how to spot the difference between an original Colt CAR collapsible buttstock and the other manufacturers? Pics helpful...

Want to convert an A2 into a carbine

That sounds good. Maybe I'll do a really slow part-by-part build so it won't seem so pricey. I was originally thinking CAR15 (I love simple & minimalist) but it seems a shame to sacrifice a perfectly good working rifle. On the other hand, I don't shoot it often...

Want to convert an A2 into a carbine

Thank you, money is a factor in this build. I want it to cost less than $200.

Want to convert an A2 into a carbine

I have an 20" A2 with a fixed caring handle & butt stock. I have 16" barrel with front sight post. I need a gas tube, roll pin, hand guards, collapsing butt stock, and H2 buffer. (can I use the original buffer?) Anything else besides the armorer's tool? I figure I can reuse the delta ring...

    'Upgraded' 10-22

I'd be more impressed with a single ragged hole at 50 yards but I suspect you won't see one posted anywhere using that receiver. Agree! Ammo...

My other half says I have enough guns...

That is ok! What's the net value of that collection. Some have 1 gun worth way more than all of those put together.

Do any service people still carry revolvers?

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Their current sidearm of issue is the S&W model 10 or 64 depending on which joint you're at.

Waidman, how much did you pay for them?

    Parkerized gun

That's the thing, I'm a shooter not a collector. It looked like a nice shooter but I felt I'd be paying collector's price and that is how he touted it, "a collector's piece" he said. I want it but not at that price.

    Parkerized gun

Ran across a parkerized Colt that should have been blued. It looked really good though. How much does parkerizing devalue a gun? BTW, it was a Colt officer's match in .22LR wearing aftermarket grips. Seller was asking $589

Skeet Shotgun is my Fighting Shotgun

Hmmm, I do use my Beretta in skeet and trap a lot. Yeah, with a box of 25 in my shell pouch. That would do!

    I want it back

This got me thinking. I sold a preban Colt AR15 HBAR back in 1991. I've regretted and replaced it with a post ban model like it but it isn't the same gun. I've bought a lot of others since. Now I worry what will happen to my collection when I'm too old or gone. At this point in life I'm into...

    Breaking Bad episode critique

Love the show! (High school chemistry teacher turned meth cook) Walt gets brave & buys a gun outside the law. Hmmm... What's he gonna do with that? I love how he practices & drills to get fast to pull that little snubbie. The boss's right hand man isn't even worried. I think a hammer shrouded...

    new sword / machete!

I like the shape of the machete. I think I'll try grinding/shaping that profile in my shop. (without the little knife cut-out and the bottle opener & saw.) Been needing a new project.

    Sodbuster/Russlock patina

Kingpin, yeah I get a 10% military discount at Lowes. This knife is fast becoming my favorite beater "EDC" (I hate that term) I dont know the steel type but it stays sharp and is the right thickness for doing a lot of things like opening boxes to striping wire.

    Sodbuster/Russlock patina

I found a sod buster jr at Lowes in the check out lane. $17.00, I bought it because of these threads just to see. I was impressed. That little knife is really sharp and handles well. I have a Swiss Army knife tinker that I abuse. I think I like this sod buster a lot.

    laser bore sighting

I was thinking of getting one too I just put glass on my 22. I'm going to try the old way and look down the barrel at 30 ft. to see if that gets me on paper before I buy a laser.

    Small 22's, to what use?

They're just fun In my little 22lr j frame S&W, a malfunction is caused by faulty ammo. Never the gun. It'll probably be the only gun I'll be able to shoot when I'm really old. The 44 magnum will end up being a paper weight on my desk.

Trap and Skeet - does this ever happen to you?

Been doing it since January of this year & I'm enjoying it a lot. I usually do 2 rounds of each too. I shoot at a club with a bunch of Old timers who compete in this sport. They give me pointers whether I want it or not and I do really good when shooting rounds with them. But when I'm not...
