Rem 700 trigger, lube or not?

I have a Rem 700 ADL 30-06 that I bought new in the 1960's. It gets used every year. Every 2-3 years I remove barrel/action from the stock, and blow out the trigger mechanism with comp. air. The trigger assembly has NEVER been dis-assembled. There's no rust or corrosion on anything...

blood trail vs. flashlight after dark?

Trying to think ahead here....... I know that hand-held flashlights use a variety of bulb types, such as "standard" incandescent, krypton, and xenon. Also LED bulbs of various "colors". I am wondering which of the bulb types produces the kind of light that would make a blood trail look...

new Rem 700 ADL's have external trigger adjust?

Currently, Academy, Dicks, and Walmart are selling Remington 700 ADL's. I'm not talkin' SPS's here...these are ADL's. Blind magazine. Sez "ADL" on the Rem. factory carton. Today I looked at one of 'em in 30-06 at Walmart. Black synthetic stock, cheap scope, matte black steel. $417 +...

    "skim bedding".....?

What exactly is "skim bedding" and what does it accomplish? How is is it different than plain "bedding"......? Is it done with both wood and synthetic stocks? Thanks, folks....... FjLee

Small pistol Match vs non Match primers?

I have plenty of Small Pistol Magnum primers. I want some Federal Small Pistol non-Magnum primers. I’ve never used Federal SP Match primers, but I currently have a good source for them. For light to medium intensity loads in a .357, can I interchangeably use the Federal SP _non...

    Red Dot versus Bullseye...burn rate

Looking at the Hodgdon chart of "Powder Relative Burn Rates"......I see Alliant Red Dot powder is listed as being a "FASTER" powder than Bullseye. Prior to this, I've never, ever seen Red Dot listed as being "faster" than Bullseye. In fact, on page 4, the 1995 Alliant manual states...

    resize .357 brass in a 9MM die?

I reload and shoot .357 mag. I only use WW brass, which has a consistent wall thickness at the mouth of the case of .0105 inch to .0115 inch. I shoot only JHP 125 grain bullets, and I really like a lot of “neck tension” gripping those bullets. I use RCBS dies, and when I resize that WW...

    tumbling NU-FINISH & primers

I observe that a lot of folks who tumble their brass add NU-FINISH and/or mineral spirits to the tumbling media. Including those who tumble _AFTER_ de-priming. When I think of doing that myself, I get uneasy about the fact that it seems to me that the trace of NU-FINISH/mineral spirits...

    Lee dippers and "static cling"

I use the Lee dippers a lot, with good success. Lately, though, it seems powder granules want to "stick" to the dippers. I followed Lee's instructions _EXACTLY_ for curing that. Didn't do much good. I also tried thoroughly wiping them with "anti-static" dryer sheet. Not much help...

Lee powder dippers--How best to tweak capacity?

I am liking & using the Lee powder dippers more and more. Often a dipper needs to have the capacity TEMPORARILY decreased a bit. ((I'd like to be able to return the dipper to its original capacity without major hassle)) I've tried aluminum foil, o-rings, and cardboard pieces. None of...

    SOLID!!! home-made shooting rest?

Years ago....probably more than 12-15 years ago.....I saw article/plans for building a portable tho really solid and heavy shooting rest. Not positive, but I think this article appeared in one of the "thick" annual publications.......like Gun Digest, Shooters Bible, Guns...

image on paper target for best groups??

I hope to soon be shooting paper……in an exercise to develop good-grouping handloads. I have a good collection of reloading components, and manuals, so no reason to not have a load or 3 that groups nice and tight. I’ll be shooting a new Ruger GP100 with 4 inch barrel in .357 Original...

    "Independence" .357 ammo......????

One of the local gun stores in Colorado has some .357 ammo called "Independence". I've not heard of that name, and a GOOGLE search of the ID# "F25M1" turned up nothing. THis is a loading of 158 grain JSP. No velocity listed. Price was $14 for box of 50. The cases appeared to be...

Using little "Lee Loader" to crimp .357

I've used the little Lee Loaders for many years. My first one cost $9.95, I think. I've reloaded shotgun and rifle ammo with them, but never reloaded any handgun ammunition. The rifle ammo I did did NOT require a crimp. I love the Lee Loaders, and the slowness doesn't bother me a bit. I...

    .357 ammo, economy versus cheap

I'll soon be buying some .357 ammo.....125 grain, for 4 inch Ruger GP100. I'm _NOT_ interested in .38 ammunition. This will _NOT_ be SD or hunting ammo, it'll be for plinking, informal target, and breaking in a new Ruger. Low velocity/low recoil is fine. Reasonably clean...

    Recently seen NEW gun prices

I recently made the rounds of a few brick/mortar places that sold handguns. This in the Denver Co area. Here's what I saw....all "new" prices, and I'm listing the BEST price that I saw. Ruger SP101 3" .357 SS (KSP 331x) $339 Ruger GP100 6" .357 SS (KGP 161)...

    3" Ruger GP100..adjustable sites available?

I'm somewhat in love with the 3 inch Ruger .357 GP100. The KGPF-331 model. As Ruger builds this, it has fixed sights. I want one of these with adjustable sights. Are there aftermarket adjustable sights for this revolver? Not Lasers or things like that, just some plain adjustable "iron...
