Thanks to all. I spoke to Tom today and he is no longer doing this type of work. He's a Vietnam vet and without going into details could use all of our prayers right now!!!! I'm a Vietnam vet too and he has mine!!!!

Trying to find - The Stocksmith Shop

A couple of years back I got the name of Tom Darbro in the Chicago suburbs as someone really good with gun stock repairs. Does anyone have his e-mail address or phone number? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

    Twist rate/bullet weight in AR-15

My AR-15 has a 1:7 twist and I have several cases of 55 gr. USA ammo. My initial (and pretty much only) experience with accuracy was horrible when shooting this rifle to qualify for a CMP M-1 Garand. I'm not at all sure it is sighted in correctly. My question is...is 55 gr. ammo suitable for...

    Wal-Mart guns

You know you really don't have to read all of the posts. Some of us weren't here for the previous idiotic posts about Walmart. That said...I will end my contribution to this futile discussion with a final comment (from me) on how absurd it is to think that Walmart has a laissez-faire...

    Wal-Mart guns

Interesting. It is the more government folks trying to tear Wally down. I guess my big picture is just a might bigger than yours. I just believe in less government. Oh? You call competition with China the "free market" at work, I suppose? Yeah...our biggest exports to China have pretty...

    Wal-Mart guns

I'm NOT suggesting that Walmart is at fault...I'm talking in terms of the result of a "Walmart". Just as the result of the fast food industry on American health and obesity...Walmart has had bad consequences on our ecconomy, IMHO!!!!! The government can go to the lowest bidder but still...

    Bi-pod and sling.

I just received a Harris bipod I purchased from MidwayUSA. I researched the heck out of it and asked questions in this forum. Check out Harris bipods at Midway. They are having a sale on the one I got...an S-BRM 6"-9" for a Reminton LTR. The LTR comes with two swivel studs on the...

Help with twist rate on AR

I second this! I have 2000 rounds of USA 55 grain ammo and an AR-15 with a 1:7 twist. I'm pretty much stuck with this ammo but until I can do some serious testing of it on a bench rest...and prove otherwise...it is crap. It may be partly me...it may be partly the rifle needing sighting...

    Why can't I find a simple sling? (A rant.)

Mike Miller at Tactical Intervention has the current contract with the USMC for all of their rifle slings. I ordered one through Brownells and it came with two different swivels (Uncle Mike's QD types) so I e-mailed Mike and he is sending me two Milspec Uncle Mike Heavy Duty upgrade swivels as...

    Wal-Mart guns

With Walmart's pressure on suppliers to lower costs, something has to give and it's not just profit margin. I didn't fall off a turnip truck so don't try to tell me quality doesn't suffer. It may be no more than skipping some QA testing...so good luck if the product that's shipped happens to...

    Harris bipod question

Wonder why Harris wouldn't incorporate a "pod-loc" type lever on their own product? I'll probably not order one until I work with the bipod and experience the need it. This thing is ~1/3 the price of the bipod!!!!

    Harris bipod question

    OK...Brownells or MidwayUSA? $121.90 vs. $79.99? Am I missing something here? If not...it's a no-brainer!!! http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=6945&st=Harris%20bipod&s= http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=155546&t=11082005
