25 gr is what my 1860 pietta likes best (black or pyro) so I cut the nozzle on my flask off at that level. My friend I shoot with uses 30 gr 777 in his but it is all over the target, why he has to use that much powder I dont know..maybe my walker gave him a "small gun" complex.

wraping bass in a paper towl soaked with amonia will age it to blue then buff with steel till brown/black.. use plumb brown gun finish and apply to hot gun parts heated out side on a bbq grill...... The fumes are very toxic and will make you very sick forever..........:)...

Try red locktite on one end let it dry all the way and keep it out of part #9. For a larger pin use a cheap drill bit.....

I have a knight Bighorn and have tried most powders... Pyro RS or Goex FF are the only 2 it will group with...777 was a big let down for me crud ring every shot .

The paterson is very fun to shoot reload is slow because the barrel has to be removed for the tool to lock in but with paper cartriges it can be quicker, it shoots 7-8 inches high at 15 yards with 20 gr black powder :cool::cool:

My before and after pictures, used vinegar to remove blueing, BBQ cleaner that has caustic soda to 'age' the metal. Then added a small amount of blueing then wiped back off right away with vinegar on a rag then oil.

The gun is colt, no uberti stamps on it. My info comes from a couple different people one is a collector the other is a 3rd generation gun smith. both say uberti has built the colt black powder line for many many years.

Uberti makes the pistols for colt.....With colt stamps.

how much do you guys and gals think a current production "colt"stamped 1862 police model is worth unfired in box? I found one in a local gun shop but 695.00 seems to much for a 'fancy stamped Uberti' ....

How accurate are conical bullets in a cap n ball pistol? I have a mold that makes .454 197gr semi wad cutter bullets. Or are round balls better. Thanks....................

If I were to clean a rabbit with washer fluid I would feed it to the neighbor's ever constant barking dog............. Rabbits out here most of the time have diseases and almost no one eats them. Field kit,,,tooth brush, Q tips,cleaner,cylinder lube, paper clip (to clean flash holes in nipples)...

On some weekends during the summer and fall I have shot rabbits and targets all weekend long and only field cleaned them with window washer fluid and a rag until I get home ( probably 100-150 shots) Is this what the original question referred to???? the few ive made I used Bugler cigarette paper ( all cigarette paper is lightly nitrated) and it burned up all the way with out any 'left overs' in the chamber.

how many of you use them? Is there any differance in accuracy? Worth the time to make them. Round ball or Conical? Will .452 LC bullets work??? Sorry so many questions at once.:o
