    Browning X-Bolt with BOSS...?

You are probably right. No BOSS on X-Bolt. I called a guy at Browning but he didn't know. I wanted it on a .243 for coyotes at 350+ yards. (Can't get it on a .243 A-Bolt.) I had a no-brake BOSS on a Model 70 and learned how to work it. Easy. Unreal results. But I'll still get the X-Bolt...

    Browning X-Bolt with BOSS...?

Does anyone know when BOSS will be available on the X-Bolt? Thanks ..... g88

Best All Around Defense Hand Gun

I vote for the Glock 17 or 19, and several full-cap mags loaded with +P+ ammo. I have the 19. (Too bad my Para hi-cap P14.45 doesn't always work.) ----

    Strongest Quality Control...which guns?

Thanks for the input. I think I will take the suggestion to benchrest my Glock 19 to check its accuracy. I know what you mean too about how cheap a case of 9mm practice ammo is, compared to most everything else. Thanks again .... g88

    Strongest Quality Control...which guns?

Love the Smith and Wesson guns but didn't list them because I've had too much trouble with some of their revolvers. (They did fix them, no charge.) My experience with Smith QC is one reason I'm looking for better QC gun companies. Thanks.

    Strongest Quality Control...which guns?

Are the H&K magazines hard to load? I use Glocks right now (G19s with Fed 9BPLE) and have to use the loader for some magazines. I like the Glock but just want to make a change, maybe for a little better accuracy. And maybe to move from 9mm to 40. Although the 9BPLE is a real good stopper...

    Strongest Quality Control...which guns?

Like everyone else, I hate a brand new gun that doesn't work right. Question: are these the companies that seem to have the STRONGEST QUALITY CONTROL on guns under about $800, right out of the box?? -- H&K -- Sig -- Beretta -- Glock Or what is a better list? Thanks...

10mm auto as a mountain gun?

Another thing is that bears and other critters are out at night. With the Glock you can have a light on the gun to see what you are dealing with -- and to have a two-hand hold if you might have to shoot. Compare that to shooting a 44 mag revolver one-handed while you hold a flashlight in the...

    642 in a pocket?

I carry a Smith J-frame in a Kramer Pocket holster, right front pocket. The Kramer retains the gun, so holster and gun are one unit. Got the Kramer after a gun dumped out of a pocket holster that does not retain the gun, getting into a car with loose slacks. The Kramer won't let this happen, or...

    Aggressive Rust PREVENTION

I recommend Johnson's Paste Wax - the amber colored wax in the big round can. Put it on, let it dry and buff it up. Very effective corrosion stopper. Doesn't hold dirt like oil or grease will. I've tested it on bare steel with saltspray several times and it works great. ----------

    Stuck Safe

Turns out the jam was caused by a thing on the top shelf that was squeezed between the door and the back of the safe. It was just a little too long for the depth of the safe. I padded the end of a 2X4 and squeezed it between a workbench and the safe, pushing on the door. Finally got the lever to...

    Stuck Safe

Hope someone can help me with this. My safe is a Cannon with a combination lock, and a lever on the door. When you do the combination right, you can move the lever about 30 degrees with a big CLANK, and then pull the door open. But now when I do the combination right, I can't move the lever. It...

    Ruger Redhawk 4" barrel length

Mag-na-port will cut a 5.5" Redhawk to whatever you need. I think the price is on their website. They did mine a few years back. Excellent work. Good price. Nice people. (But the gun is still very heavy, compared to a Smith 4" 629 Mountain Gun - which is what I finally bought.)

I love Rugers, but Ruger has ticked me off...and lost a sale.

I have a Ruger PC9 and a PC40 - the Police Carbines. GREAT shooters, absolutely. But each one weighs over 7 pounds. Catalog says 6-3/8 pounds (bad enough). They've been shipping them at over 7 pounds for years. This is a dopey mistake to allow on a "fast-handling little carbine". I called Ruger...

    Gun Tests magazine

I've been taking it for years. They tell you which guns they think are great, and tell you about production defects they find, and defects in design. They also test ammo and accessories. I go by what they say, which has cut my disappointments and saved me money. You get straighter dope from Gun...

    Quality Hard-Chrome Job

As someone said, before dealing with any plater, compare prices and find some satisfied customers - like anything else. Maybe there's good info at pistolsmith.com. ----------------------------------

    XD9 vs G19vsM&P9

The 45acp MP has an optional thumb safety. I saw it on Smith's website. I heard this safety will be available as an option on all the MP's. ------------------------

Best Pants for Pocket Carry ??

Thanks. I have 640 grips on the 340PD, ground down to boot grip length. They cover the backstrap, which adds about 1/8" to the gun's overall length. Walmart's Wrangler jeans solves this problem with their deep pockets. But my problem is that, even though the pocket holster looks like a...

    Pocket carry thread

Pocket Carry Club I would like to join the club. Pocket carry is the solution to a lot of problems. Right now I'm looking for the best type of pants for pocket carry because my 340PD in a Kramer still prints too much in what I wear now. I've had best luck with pants that have an outside pocket...

I'm new on the forum as of today. We live in the central California mountains where we have a small business. Main interests are modern home defense guns, carry guns for the city, and guns for the woods. I started off on the forum today by screwing up with a double post. Sorry. How can I fix...
