    Ruger price jump

As much as I like and admire Bill Ruger, his slip up was un-American. He really goofed on that one. Americans have gotten used to realatively low priced guns. In fact, guns have been a bargain for many decades in this country. All guns could double in price and still be worth buying and...

    Question on +P+ ammo

There is only one reason that American ammo is loaded so light and that reason is....drum roll....LAWYERS!!! It has little to do with the durability of the arms involved. The truth shall set you free.

    Question on +P+ ammo

The notion that +P or even +P+ ammo will wear out your pistol sooner is false in most cases--heres why. Provided you dont plink with thousands of rounds of +P or +P+, your gun will never notice the difference. Buy your +P or +P+ ammo, shoot it enough to know where it hits and to know that your...

What type of handgun do you carry most? pt2

Most of my carry is in grizzly country so I carry a 500 Linebaugh the most. It has Buffalo Bore ammo in it. Its already killed several bear and works quite well. City carry is normally some form of J frame S&W or a Glock 23 or a S&W 1911PD.

    Camping/Hunting back-up/Hiking Pistol

Mt. Lions are easy to kill and even easier to turn and all you have to do is turn it, not kill it. A good 22 will work. Same story with black bear although they are a bit harder to hurt than a lion, all you have to do is hurt a black bear and he will leave. This is not so with grizzly. I've...

    Ammunition and Temperature.

Provided you let it cool down before you fire it, everything should be ok. Long term storage at 90*F+ temps will ruin the powder, but one week does not qualify as long term.

Whats your idea of the perfect trail gun?

a 357 with propper ammo is a great trail gun in your neck of the woods. However, I would want moore if I was in grizzly or moose country.

    1911-carriers: Hardball or JHP?

I have numerous 45s. Many Paras, Colts, S&W and Glocks. I have about three of them that I use a lot. All of my 45s are carried with 230gr. FMJ-FN+P Buffalo Bore loads. These bullets hit hard because they are flat nosed and FMJ. They are doing about 1000 fps out of my 5 inch 1911s and the powder...

    Best Semi-Auto for Bear under $1,800 ???

coat4gun, Many years ago on Chichagoff Island, a freind and myself ran our truck behind a grizzly on an old logging road(these are the big fat coastal bears) for at least a quarter of a mile and the speedometer said 45 mph. The bear finally got tired of running down the middle of the road and...

DMK, Not only would she prefer a big bore, as you pointed out, but she will want some one who doesnt go full auto so easy.

    Recommendations for .45

Para-Ordnance P14 is a 1911 pistol with a double stack mag. and holds 14 rounds of 45 acp. The P13 is a commander legnth pistol that holds 13 rounds. I own both and highly recomend them. You can get steel frames or alloy frames. Good pistols at reasonable prices last time I checked.

Is a 9mm an adequate Colorado woods gun?

Timbokhan, I hope you know I meant no offense. I have no idea if there are any grizzlies in CO at the present time, but I've been around way too long and seen too many things, to 100% rule it out. Take a look at how many mountain ranges in WYO that are filled with grizzly bear, connect to...

    Is a .45 A.C.P. FMJ enough?

Giester, Then by my reckoning, your love for the animal is not complete. If we step up and do the hard thing to stop the horses suffering, we do it out of love and respect, because it is the most loving and respectful thing to do for a suffing beloved animal.

Is a 9mm an adequate Colorado woods gun?

TimboKhan, Only humans are arrogant/dumb enough to think that they can guarantee that a state like CO has NO grizzly. DOW was saying there was no grizzly in CO, when the last one was killed too. About ten years ago, my son and my hunting buddy and myself were packing an elk out of the...
