New Sig 226, Guide rod is plastic??

http://www.guiderod.com/ I got a steel guide rod for my SP2022 from this site. Very pleased with it.

    New M&P 9mm failure.

While it sounds like there may be *some* cause for concern by a few M&P owners, I think the OP might be over-reacting just a little bit. Give S&W a chance to make it right, and if the pistol still has failures, then air your grievances. No mechanical device, even when mass produced, is exempt...

    Sig 2022 or HK P30

I really like my SP2022 in 9mm. I am actually more accurate with it than I am with my HK USP, which I have had for much longer. You will be very pleased with either one, but the SP2022 is a bargain and really an unsung hero in the Sig line. You could buy a lot of ammo/accessories/a value...

Pelosi tosses cold water on assault-weapon ban

It seems to me that this is a more complex issue than some of us realize. There are FEDERAL and STATE gun laws. Some states require a transfer permit to transfer a gun as a gift, or even to inherit a firearm. There can be different interpretations of these laws, and state/local restrictions...

Best ammo for a Colt Lightning style carbine?

Can anyone recommend a good brand that they have had success with in their Lightning style rifle? Or even what your lever gun likes? I'm trying to get a Gold Rush in 45 Colt to cycle with Winchester brass...but I am not having much, if any, success in getting it to feed and extract reliably...

    Goodbye Sig

My first Sig experience wasn't so great either: A Mosquito that wouldn't even eat mini-mags. But I stuck with it and now it eats Federal bulk stuff without so much as a hiccup. I can't really recall the last time it jammed. I have heard plenty of negative things about the GSR line, so I've...

    .45acp Vs .223/5.56

A Marine Force Recon guy that posts on a car forum I frequent most certainly had a Glock 9mm pictured alongside his M4A1--"showing off" his gear and such. He did comment on it and mentioned liking it much better than the M9 that it replaced. I know, I know...friend of a friend stuff. But...

    .45acp Vs .223/5.56

This, at first, seemed like a silly thread to me, but then it got me thinking...is this why Personal Defense Weapons like the FN P90 and HK MP7 never really caught on with people "in the business"? When you fire such a small cartridge through such a short barrel, it just isn't as effective as a...

    What ammo for Sig Mosquito?

Mine wouldn't digest bulk stuff at first, but it eats Federal bulk like it's going out of style now that it's broken in. If you can find bulk that's not hollow point, that would be the way to go. The trigger is only so-so...not nearly as good as my P2022 9mm, but it's OK. If you can get one...

Having trouble with barrel swap. Sig P229

I don't think it's a bad barrel or a bad gun. Most likely, the barrel will require some "fitting", from what you describe. I know on a lot of the custom barrel makers websites, you have to send the slide in so they can match the barrel to it. I just speculating, but the 229's that come with...

    Sig/HK Debate and Price Question

You can't go wrong with either, but the Sig gets the nod for having a somewhat better trigger (in the opinion of most people). The pricing seems reasonable to me. USP's and Sigs go for about $739 at my local dealer-with no night sights. There are some members up here that might be able to get...

Great find! I'd love to find one of those myself, but doubt I'll have much luck!

    Any comments about Sig-Sauer Mosquito?

I had one. It would run on CCI mini-mags. Anything else would jam it. OK accuracy, cheap zinc slide, decent ergos. There are much better options out there. I would not buy another unless it was a BARGAIN.

Anyone shooting the Sig Mosquito 22LR ?

My Mosquito functions great, even beyond 200 rounds without cleaning, as long as I'm shooting CCI mini-mags. It does not function with the bulk Winchester hollow points I shoot in my Ruger single-six. It is a fun little .22, but it does seem to have a few quirks.

    The Springfield XD Torture Test

Re: Redhat's ??? I am no expert on who uses what. I don't even know if someone "in the business" would tell you what they use. Like you said, the Mk 23 is pretty bulky...maybe too much so. That is why they came up with the combat tactical. But does anyone actually use it? Beats me. But if...

    The Springfield XD Torture Test

From the H&K site: One of the most thoroughly tested handguns in history, the MK23/MARK 23 project originated in 1991 when HK began development for the U.S. Special Operations Command, the unit that directs the activities of America’s most elite military units, including the NAVY SEALS and the...

    The Springfield XD Torture Test

XD's and Glocks are like Dell computers...everyone talks trash about them because so many people have them. Kind of the same as the previously mentioned Fords and Chevy's. Thing is, high end computers and BMW's have problems too. I've also heard that it can take months to get parts for a...

Change of mind from .45 to 9mm

Yeah, I just made the switch. I started out with a USP 9mm. Great gun. But I lurk on some car enthusiast boards on and I kept hearing about how great the .45 XD was. So, I bought one. Nice gun...low recoil for a .45, liked the way if felt, and the 13 shot mag was nice too. But I was never...
