Thinking About Moving from CA to Oregon

I lived in California. I saw my second amendment rights eroded by career politicians who were communists in wolves clothes. I moved because I despise socialism and/or communism. I earned the right to call it whatever I please. I repeat, you have me confused with somebody who cares what...

Thinking About Moving from CA to Oregon

Uh, not these days they won't. I went on a guided fishing trip on the McKenzie. Our guide complained that natives build houses on the river but leave the landscape/trees in tact. That's essential to prevent erosion, etc. The <newbies> come in and, in spite of the native's pleas, clear...

That may not be much of a factor when they find out you moved from <California>.

Thinking About Moving from CA to Oregon

I have some friends who moved from <one to the other>. They don't like it. Mostly cause the <one doesn't like the other>.

Child killed by police shooting at snake.

Update on the story. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,292168,00.html The snake was in a tree! Not in the rafters (as per the original story). What on earth are they doing shooting a handgun bullet into a tree?!

    Sacramento gun show

The last time I went to that show they advertised 1100 tables with nothing but guns. I counted maybe 150 tables of guns with the rest beef jerky and flea market junk. I never went back.

Child killed by police shooting at snake.

You're probably referring to me. I was the one who posted the original article that got the thread reopened. The news said the LEOs shot the snake which was in the rafters (of the house). That would mean that the LEOs were in the house. The snake was in the house. The LEOs shot the snake...

Child killed by police shooting at snake.

That poor boy. What were the police officers thinking? So from the story, the police shot up into the rafters. The bullet went through the roof, reached its apex and then began its descent. And by the time it reached the child, it had enough velocity/energy to kill the child. That's...

Child killed by police shooting at snake.

Cops shoot at snake in ceiling, kill a kid. Noble, Oklahoma - A five-year-old boy is dead after a tragic mistake in which a stray bullet, meant to kill a snake, struck the boy. It happened Friday night in Noble, about 100 miles southwest of Tulsa in Cleveland County. Officers had...

    Southpaw 22 bolt action

If she's just learning, you might consider a pump like this Remington 572: Or a lever like this Marlin 39: If you want bolt action, Savage makes a nice left handed 22 with their famous accutrigger: The CZ 452 American in left handed is probably going to be my choice, though:

    How accurate is this rifle?

I'm wanting a 22 rimfire with target accuracy. I'm a left handed shooter so left handed bolt action rifles with scope mount capabilities are non existent. Is the bull barreled 10/22 as accurate as a target bolt rifle? Close? thanx BTW, it's a 10/22 with 20 inch bull barrel.

Do you drink alcohol at all? (yes, it's firearms-related)

Given the toxicological effect of ethyl alcohol on the human body, it's very unwise to drink for recreational purposes. Ethyl alcohol is a poison. It's "toxic." That's why the root word in the word "intoxicated," is "toxic." A person who drinks has to some degree been "poisoned."

    Perceived recoil of Sig 220ST.

It's a chronic condition from years of too aggressive weight lifting techniques. (We used to call it "working in the pain zone." Today I call it stupid.) It bothers me lifting weights or playing the guitar or shooting some guns. Notably, the Sig 220. But not with any of my revolvers or any...

    Perceived recoil of Sig 220ST.

I have a Sig 220 ST. It's a sweet shooting gun but for some reason irritates the tendonitis in my wrist. It's 45 ACP. I also have two other 45s. Both Colt 1911s. These guns don't irritate my wrist. I recently read somewhere that the angle of barrel to grip makes recoil/perceived recoil...

    Gun photos and lightbox.

Somewhere I saw specs for taking photos of guns using a lightbox. I tried the search feature but couldn't find anything. I'm actually looking for the types of lights they used, and what kind of material they were draping over the pvc frame. thanx

    Sig or Glock?

"Only" got.....? You know how long it would take me to put 50,000 rounds through any single gun? I've got a 1911 I bought in 1978 for $234. To date I've logged right at 2000 rounds through it. I need to go to the range.

    Sig or Glock?

I went window shopping for a Glock 26. In another forum I asked if $470 was an ok price. The response was that it is a good price. Now I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Glock 26 with pinky extension or the Sig SAS 239 in 9mm. The Sig is $689, if I move fairly quickly. Do you think...
