Is bolt action the most accurate

The short answer to the original question is 'not necessarily' -- there are many variables involved. For instance a popular formal target-shooting discipline in my country is shot prone with an ironsighted smallbore (.22LR) rifle from 25 to 100 yards, with sub-MOA accuracy expected from the...

    Rare (?): A single-shot 9mm Rifle

There's a lot of 9mm cartridges in the world, what makes you think that it's 9x19mm? This for example is a popular European hunting round: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9.3x62mm

    Would a 30" 22LR barrel act as a silencer?

I shoot a lot of formal .22LR target rifle. Combine subsonic ammo and longish barrels (25"+) and you get some fairly quiet guns. In fact there is no need for anyone other than shooters to wear ear protection outdoors. When someone is using a 'barrel extension' (non-pressure-bearing sleeve which...

    James Bond Guns

I wonder if it's an attempt to get the franchise back to the typical Bond aesthetic -- Casino Royale was quite different to the more recent Bond films, and in some ways to all other Bond films -- grittier, less cheesy, fewer gadgets, a fallable Bond. No invisible cars or rocket pens or laser...

    Homemade $10 handguns!

I'm not saying it's not feasible with an appropriately designed gun, but either these guns have steel barrels or I wouldn't be the first in line at the range...

    Homemade $10 handguns!

'Cast iron' is an archaeic term which denotes that the chemical composition lends itself to casting at a manageable temperature of some 1200 degrees C. Cast iron is an alloy of iron and between 2.2 and 4% carbon by weight. Steel is an alloy of between 0.1 and 2.2% carbon, iron and other...

    Homemade $10 handguns!

His website: http://www.thehomegunsmith.com/ The gentleman seems... not exactly the most unbiased. Okay, so he seems plain unhinged at times. His results though are there. His first book is usually available through Amazon.

Excelent short animation about gun control

I'm sure. 'Libertarianism' (in this context) is a reactionary term against the misuse of the term 'liberalism', as used in its modern American sense. All Democrats for sure, and perhaps all identifying themselves as liberals, but not liberals - they do not stand for individual liberty. They may...

Excelent short animation about gun control

Liberalism is based upon inalienable rights, including the right to keep and bear arms -- similar to the right to say what one wishes, worship whom/what ones wishes (if one wishes), and to sleep with whichever consenting adults one wishes. Wishy-washy, 'let's all talk about how great we are...

    Homemade $10 handguns!

Cast iron barrel? In a suitable weight, that sounds rather... 'delicate'. Wouldn't wan to touch-off any hot loads, certainly without a decent proof... One can build a smoothbore SMG in a weekend with some cheap tools -- hand drill, files and a vice are probably the most appropriate modern...

    Underground Ranges?

Don't forget G36, if you are shooting an FAC firearm held for reasons of target shooting, one of your conditions is that you only shoot on suitably insured ranges. That means you need a safety certificate. Now, time was the MOD used to do these gratis, but Labour pennypinching means that they...

    Tommy gun in WWII

Marketing. Post WW1, Thompson was trying to sell his guns. Machineguns were big, heavy, long-ranged things. Machinepistols were full-auto pistols.

What are the most ANTI-gun movies?

Perhaps I should make aspersions about your country sir. However, since that's not we do round here, I will not. I should point out that it is a program produced by the BBC, which has a history of being a lap-dog to government whims. (The BBC is funded by a compulsory television tax, and...

What guns of old would you like remade today for Civilians

Rbernie, there is an Australian company that makes No.4 clones in x39 (using AK mags) and x51 (using M14 mags). Adjustable sights and an M1903 rail too. http://www.australianinternationalarms.com.au/

    Dumb Question regarding rimfires...

Partly because of the sheer volume of .22LR being produced and consumed. BTW, rimfire brass is produced by drawing a disc of brass sheet over a progressive set of dies. Centrefire needs turning on a lathe and all sorts. It's basically a lot more steps, and time = money. Bottlenecks are produced...

D.C.'s partial semi auto ban is safe

    10-22 Book. questions

Can't think that .22LR would be much use from a 4" barrel, no matter how many rounds you dump at the target. Prepared for anything my behind; Perhaps the author should be put up against a grizzly with his supposed uber weapon, or against someone with a gun more than 6' away.
