He is getting rid of some of his big collection and knew I like this one so he sold it to me today. LNIB with everything. I slapped on these grips I had.
Less than one box of shells through it. He bought it new in 1998, the reciept was still in the box.

They are GREAT pistols and you are fortunate to have found one. I bought one from CDNN a couple of years ago when they were selling them new for $399 and I am glad I did. Great CCW weapon.
I am trying to find a decent 5906 and it isn't easy. The supply has dried up and when you do find...
Just bought a 640 Centennial Smith 38 Special.
It is the snubbie with the short barrel (less than 2 inches I think)
Round butt
Stainless
Fixed sights
Serial: BKN4136
Really curious as to how old it really is. I am guessing early to middle 90's.

I would have paid $400 for it. You just don't see these things very often like not at all! I had been looking for a LONG time for an original 640. Can't say I had see one in years.
I about slobbered over myself telling the guy at the counter I would take it.

That is funny! I just bought one that looks hardly shot today!

Mine came with grips like yours but I put on some old wood factory just for fun. Don't like them though and put the black rubber ones back on...
Stopped in my local fun store. Their prices are high on new stuff but they have this little used handgun counter and they consistently have been my downfall over the years. Always a good deal if you time it right. Anyway, they had this like new old Smith Centennial 640 stainless for $340 and...
I bought this like new 442 today used at my local fun shop for $340
I knew it was a no lock of course which is why I jumped on it but the more I look at it, it has color case hardened trigger and no integral cylinder stop on the right side of the frame and it just says MOD 442 on the yoke. I...
It just says MOD 442 on the yoke so it isn't +P rated.
Whatever, I wouldn't shoot them only in a self defense situation anyway so I will just carry it and be good with it.

Is it ok to shoot +P ammo from time to...
I just bought a like new P19132LP and love it. I didn't want one with adjustable sights but the price was only $700 and it had never been fired and came with everything as from the factory. The previous owner had put a nice magwell and mainspring housing on it so I figured that was worth...
I think I will wait for a GI champion. That is the size I want but they are difficult to find right now. I was hoping the RIA commander would work but I don't want it if it is cast.
I am sure they are fine, I just don't like cast.

Just real quick, are the slides and frames forged? I know that there are some MIM parts but can't seem to find an answer to that on here.
I am looking for simple reliability and durability. Not much else other than combat accuracy.
Thanks,
Patrick
I have a police trade in 3rd Gen Glock 17, a recently purchased Glock 26, and a brand new Smith 6906 that I bought from CDNN when they had them.
All three are great pistols and I use them all at different times.
I would like to replace a Beretta 92FS that I recently sold to pay some bills...
