If you had to choose one...

The only correct answer is a .357 revolver. My personal preference is my 4" S&W 686. It's the perfect EOTWAWKI gun. It goes bang everytime you want it to no matter how much belly button lint gets in it. It won't rust no matter how much sweat you get on it. You can load it hot enough to...

What to do with the pinkie.

I just looked at how my particular and personal hand works and I'm uncertain on the mechanics of how one might apply pressure through the port/starboard axis of the pistol grip. I can see pressure "around" the pistol grip and I practice applying the majority of my grip pressure through the...

Not allowed to ship firearms in pelican style hard cases?

He probably doesn't want to be responsible for your case. If he loses a cardboard box, no biggie. He pulls another one off the self and you're none the wiser. If he loses your expensive and much loved Pelican case you'll get all bent out of shape and demand that he buy you a new one and then...

12ga shotgun vs. 2 boats of Pirates

Shotguns make a ton of sense on boats. Buckshot is a great stopper and if you have a barrel tricked out by Hans Vang you can easily make hits out to 100 yards. No BS there. I've done it with a 14 inch mossberg using reduced recoil winchester ranger ammo. Slugs are good in an anti materiel...

My kid's pink cricket has a folding pistol grip stock and a bayonnet lug. Does she qualify?

    Taliban Marksmanship in the NYTimes

Basic Rifle Marksmanship in much of the Islamic world comes down to one word, "Inshallah" (if god wills).

    Interesting comment from Sherrif's deputy

As a young EMT in the late 80s I transported a guy from a small hospital to the local trauma center. He'd been sitting in his car minding his own business when someone shot him in the head from near contact distance. You could see the powder stipling around the entry wound. I got to see the...

    Dirty, Filthy, Icky Rimfire

Took a pair of my .22s out on a date tonite. I'd forgotten just how filthy they are to shoot. My poor Walther P22 and AR-15 w/ M261 adapter and lungs are now coated in smokey grey gunk. Yuck. Doesn't anyone make any clean .22LR? If I wanted that sickly sweet taste in the back of my throat for...

A Question for revolver owners (shooting when wet)

Revolvers are probably safer to shoot after a dunking. The water will fall out of gun just as gravity decrees it must and there is no chance that there will be water trapped in the barrel by suction since its open at both ends.

    What about 'frangible' rounds?

magsafe and glaser are a different breed of frangibles. Real frangibles (compressed powder in a jacket) are good for very limited purposes. If you are on the government's dime and are training with rifles in a shoot house rated for pistols or are doing a lot of shooting on steel at really close...

Shooting double pistols - who teaches?

I teach 2 gun mojo all the time. I start with airsoft and a cat of 9 tails. Its almost a religeous experience. For only $75/hr plus travel and all expenses I can make you a 2 gun mojo god. For safety I only use DRT ammo and can help you custom design your own tactical wheel barrow.

    HD shotgun or pocket revolver?

If you've already got a collection of shotties, just slap a short barrel on one and get a J-frame. A man is never fully dressed without his Chief. If you do go with the shottie forget about magnum this and 3" that for HD. Look at the reduced recoil fighting loads. They hit almost every bit...

Guns to avoid standing downwind of at the Range

I used to reload a bit of .38 and I always loved using alliant Bullseye because it was so stinky and smoky for smokeless powder.

Can someone tell me about the new US AG (AWB Discussion Here!)

Legalize drugs to protect your gun rights. In a very real way the U.S. is the direct cause of Mexico's drug cartel war. No I'm not joking. Legal drugs means legit, tax paying, law abiding companies who are unlikely to engage in murder sprees running things. Legit sales means lower prices...

Anybody know of a holster maker who makes a good leather pancake or similar for a Glock with a light attached. It must be leather! No Plastic, No Serpa, No Kydex!!! Cows must die to satisfy me!!!

    One Handed handgunning

I was on another forum and read that one of the guys there was describing how a hand injury had deadlined his gun handling and it got me thinking about how we all might handle our pistolas with only one paw. Things that have worked for me: -Racking the slide or returning a locked back...

'bout time for a gun movie thread, isn't it?

"3:10 to Yuma" made me want to sell my wife's wedding ring and pick up a S&W Schofield. "Dark Blue" made me glad I was never hired by LAPD but you've got to love movie with lines like "That's my daddy's gun... and the only reason this city's here is because they built it with bullets!" and...

    New Pistol Barrel Break In

Old Fuff, Most police guns (post academy) go into service with a very low round count. More often than not, running the gun through 1 qualification course (30-50) rounds is deemed sufficient. I've always done 500-1000 rounds because I seldom use a company gun, I like to shoot alot and, most...
