What TWO calibers would you choose if you could only have two?

243 Win. and 300 Win. Mag.---that should about cover it.

    30-06 or 270

Sounds like you're already covered over the gun spectrum. If you want an 06' then buy one. Everyone should have one in their safe. Ever thought about an M1 Garand? Pat

How well do you like your custom rifles?

I've only got one and it's a joy to pack because it is light but it is the poorest shooting model 700 I own---about 1.25 MOA. Far worse with factory ammo.

    Thinking about getting a .22, either 10/22 or a CZ 452

You might want to try one of these: http://www.savagearms.com/markiiclassic.htm Savage in known for accuracy and these are a great looking gun and made here in the USA.

    Gun safe or more guns?

Champion looks like a good safe. Don't forget the fire protection. Electronic keypads are a nice feature also if you plan on accessing the safe frequently. The peace of mind it will give you will be worth the cost of a gun or two. One thing to remember now is to buy a bigger safe now...

Report estimates revenue loss from Idaho wolves

ChefJeff1 wrote: "I killed my first elk in Idaho this fall and didn't spend anything near $8000. I spent a few hundred on a grinder, gas, food, clothes, ammo, and hours and hours of scouting and hunting and saw a ton of animals. When I called in y harvest report, the lady said I was one of the...

I need advice on which rifle to buy

Another vote here for the 243. About 1/2 the recoil of a 270 Win. but very effective on deer size animals.

    .223 vs. .22-250 vs. .204ruger

I think the 204 is a good caliber but the .22-250 has been around longer and I like tradition calibers for availability of ammo and brass. I also think the .22-250 will buck the wind better at longer ranges then the 204. Heck if I could have got it in the rifle I choose I would have bought a 220...

    .223 vs. .22-250 vs. .204ruger

I just had this same decision to make and I settled on a .22-250. For me it was a close call between the 204 and .22-250. After 300 yds. either of these have an edge over the .223 in trajectory. I wanted something that would reach out to 400-500 with less drop.

    Swift scirocco bullets?

I've never shot anything with one of these but bought a box to see if they would group in an 06' I've got but they wouldn't group for me. Hornady Interbonds on the other hand shoot very well in a bonded bullet.

    Best powder for .22-250?

I'm getting a new .22-250 and am new at reloading for a .22 and was wondering what you guys think is the best performing powder for this caliber. I will probably be shooting 50-55 gr. bullets. thanks, 270

I don't see what you have listed on their website as a classic. Perhaps it's something someone has modified? http://www.remington.com/library/history/firearm_models/centerfire/model_700.asp Pat

Remington's Custom Shop - Left hand rifles

Those are good looking guns! In Reminton's 2009 catolog no LH SS rifles are listed even in the custom shop. According to their website even the KS series custom gun shows as discontinued in 2008. Considering the unbeliveably high price I can see why.

Anyone else see Tred Barta's Newfoundland woods caribou hunt this year?

Barta is entertaining but boy is he a BS artist! What cracks me up is the number of times he contradicts himself in an episode. I'd much rather watch him then the Drury boys turning hunting into some kind of tag-team sport.

What is the best combat handgun in use today?

I'd pick a Glock in a compact or full size gun. I've seen too many 1911s choke(mine being one of them) to trust them for a self defense weapon.

    Ruger Mark I oddity

I'd clean it and perhaps change out the recoil spring. It could be getting a little fatigued after 36 yrs. CCI Mini mags should be OK, they've been around since 1962 which was before your pistol was made.
