I have a few tack-driving .22 pellet rifles that, if going off of how they shot the first brand of pellets I tried, I would have used as tomato stakes. I will say that most of mine have done well enough for hunting with the Diablo Exacts.

While I love my Tikka, it is in a low-recoil caliber. The aluminum recoil lug on the Tikka would turn me to the Vanguard.

My issue with the entire case and the BATFE's "addition" of questions, not to mention the complete 180 of their interpretation, is idea that buying a gun for someone else, THEN TRANSFERRING IT TO THAT PERSON THROUGH AN FFL, thus ensuring that they are not a prohibited person, is illegal.

A lot if you are close and hit bone. I got two with a 16.5" handi-rifle this year. I used 240grain XTPs with good results.

Yes, I have shot several deer at the end of legal light. I make sure it is a GOOD shot, and I use a headlamp to field-dress.

Brian, I've used the .270 on deer here in MN as close as 10 yards out to about 125 yards. I didn't notice any difference between the 130 and 150 grain bullets shooting the Federal Fusions or handloading Sierra Game King's. If you don't want to ruin the shoulder meat, shoot both lungs behind...

I shot two this year with an H&R Handi in 44 mag. They were about half-a-minute apart, so I doubt the fact that I had a single shot hurt.....

This, but in .44 mag. Inexpensive, strong, safe. Very handy deer hunting due to it's short length. Recoil is mild for what you get out of the muzzle.

180 out of my .308, but 100 yards would be a long shot in the woods I hunt......
