Plant worker in Kentucky kills four after dispute

I have no problem with business prohibiting carry on their property. It is private property, you are paid to work their under certain conditions, if you don't like them, find employment elsewhere. Welcome to the free market.

    Great picture from Switzerland

I think this is kind of misleading. Switzerland isn't the land of ultimate gun freedom that most seem to make out. My wife lived there and while openly carrying your rifle back from the range isn't a big deal, carrying a loaded gun is a big no-no (without a permit, which is rare). And unless...

Hillsdale College to open shooting range in Fall 2008

That is excellent. Way better than having to pay $40 a year for membership at the local range that is hardly ever open. Honestly, I remember my freshman year there was a flyer in the dorm lobby for a group buy of .223, as soon as I saw that I knew I had picked the right school.

How many THR members own class IIIs?

Hmm, my wife recently pointed out to be that I have more tied up in NFA goodies than our house. Lucky for me, my wife likes guns too.

Shot a Thompson Machine Gun, Man did that thing climb!

SMG's take a little getting used to and figuring out how to accuratly fire one and control the follow shots requires a fair amount of practice. Shooting my M1921 I generally keep a full mag CM in a target. I can usually put a 3 round burst into a steel drum at 100 yards. I would actually say...

    Hostile bear encounter WWYD?

    Play dead, duh.

What if (another thought on the 86 ban)...

I would love lifting the ban even if does mean my collection will lose 90% of its value. Heck, the insurance savings will make it worth it! Unfortunatly I don't think it will happen for many years.

    Non NFA suppressor?

Any examples of the ATF saying they are OK? The tube that I've seen for the shotguns is intended purely for reducing the sound signature and doubt the ATF would approve of that. I suppose I will be meeting with an agent from the NFA branch in Jan and I can ask him for an opinion on the matter.

    Non NFA suppressor?

I've heard of a few people putting on long extension tubes on their .22's, similiar to the long (4 foot) tube that Tom Knapp sometimes uses on his shotgun, claiming that they just "contain" the noise. They claim these don't count as an NFA item...I suspect the ATF would disagree and I wouldn't...

    Muzzle loader squirrel hunting.

I've done a decent amount of squirrel hunting with a muzzle loader, it is still a bit of a tradition in Kentucky. I would take your rifle out to the range and try shooting it to see where it hits with each progressive round. This should solve any accuracy concerns if you can figure out how...

Getting started deer hunting in Wisconsin

Thanks for the replies, you guys are far more helpful than the local goof balls at Gander Mountain (which is still a good store, I'm just amused by the advice I hear there sometimes). Being a southerner and a land owner, the idea of public lands is rather new to me. As I understand it, all I...

Getting started deer hunting in Wisconsin

Can anyone offer me some pointers on getting started deer hunting in Wisconsin? I am a new resident to the state and would really like to do some hunting but have no idea where to start when it comes to finding land to hunt or getting tags. I moved here from Kentucky, where I still own a...

Nerf "gun" confiscated in Dorms and general problems in college

Transfer to Hillsdale College in Michigan, they are VERY pro gun. The student body is asking for concealed carry AND open carry those too young to CCW.

    hunting with ak47?

You can get 5 round mags for the AK, do a search online or you could possibly get a 10 rounder and put a block inside it to limit it to 5. AK's make dandy deer rifles. My mother used one for years even though she had access to much nicer rifles, she said she just liked the feel.

    S&W Sigma to M&P comparisons

Although I cannot attest to specific gunsmith's ability. The Sigma trigger can be modified to function better, I fired several that had good trigger jobs though I do not know what was done to improve them. To be honest, I have been tempted to purchase one and modify it to use a Glock trigger.

    S&W Sigma to M&P comparisons

You can upgrade the Sigma with Wolf Springs for a much nicer trigger pull. This is what S&W does with their test pistols (nothing worse than torture testing a pistol with a ****ty trigger). Also, a decent gunsmith can do a little work and make that trigger a dream. The Sigma is a basically an...

Sigh. Maybe it istime to leave Wisconsin

Hopefully I will be moving back to Kentucky since the company I work for just opened up a facility there (instead of Wisconsin). It would be nice to live somewhere that I can CCW...not to mention that Knob Creek is there. I still don't think the local sheriff trust me after asking him to...

Sigh. Maybe it istime to leave Wisconsin

Milwaukee is not the only problem. Madison is horrible when it comes to guns, and UWM hardly helps. Ever tried to find a chief LEO to sign for class III in wisconsin? Not gonna happen. The unfortunate part for me is that I work for a firearm manufacturer as a marketing consultant and...
