Hello TFC,
Yep, I cleaned up all the dies with mineral spirits then adjusted the bell to be quite a bit more (it was set at the minimum.) Now I can set the bullet on the case and set it fairly square and just into the case - the seater takes over and then the FCD.
A brief wipe with a rag...
Hello all,
Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. A few clarifications seem to be in order:
The bullets I am loading (380ACP, 9mm and 45ACP) are all commercial cast from Penn, Midstates and a few from NBC. They are all sized and lubed with what appears (color) to be different...
Hello all,
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who experiences this problem and would like to know if there is a 'cure' or at least simple solution: when making rounds in any pistol caliber and using lubed hard cast lead bullets, the excess wax ends up all over the cases making a real mess...
Hello tkcomer,
One question - did you make any good loads before finding the short loads? If not, I'm inclined to think the activation bar wasn't properly situated in the correct slot of the auto-disk.
Just a guess, and I could most assuredly be wrong, but I've made a few K rounds with my...
The last time I checked, there were ~7,000 grains in a pound, so either you are using some special REALLY BIG grams or your math needs some work!
The correct conversion is:
1 grains = 0.06479891 grams

I certainly don't have the experience of most of the others on this forum, but I've used Wolf SPP without problem in 380 ACP and 9mm loads. Can't see any difference from the Remington SPPs'.
The only thing 'problematical' is the rather large containers as compared to other manufacturers.
All...
Hello Benedict1,
Agreed as to what Federal (and for that matter, Lee) can and cannot do; you pay the man and take your chances!
It's really not a big deal for me, as I said, just my natural curiosity getting the better of me. I do not use Federal primers, not because of any antipathy...
Hello Benedict1,
Thanks for your response; as I mentioned, I have the explosion shield and my question was prompted more by my natural curiosity and what appears to be the illogic associated with such discrimination against some primer makers by Lee.
I am not in the least an expert...
All,
Thanks very much for all the responses. My guess is it's "possible" to have a primer go off accidentally while reloading and even "possible" it could set off a chain-reaction in the other primers in the loader, but my guess is the statement made by Mr. Lee re 'any other primers needing...
Hello all,
I recently bought a Lee Loadmaster and am happy with it so far but have one question: why do they insist on a primer explosion shield for all primers other than CCI or Winchester?
Does anyone have an explanation as to why other makers primers would be more prone than these two...
