Interesting to see Motley Fool comment on Ruger's acquision of Marlin

The tyranny of "stock photo" selection by non subject matter experts :-)

    Primers in .223

I vote for the Dillon Super Swage 600 for the crimp normalization stage.

    Shooting glasses

I've had two incidents on the range where high-speed bits of brass were plated onto my glasses. I've also seen other folks with bounced lead chunks that tried to attack their eyes but their glasses blocked them. Stuff like that is a cautionary tale to wear eye pro.

    Gun control legislation proposed Sunday

200+ million standard capacity magazines to be entered into the NFA registry too. *and* under current regs anything in the NFA registry requires prior permission before transporting across state lines too.

    Remington Phoenix Wish List

The CCI #400 (small)is intended for lower pressure rifle cartridges. The CCI #450 (small) is the recommended product for the higher pressure rifle cartridges (.223 Rem for example)

Mailing a Handgun Barrel to California

I would put more trust in Brownell's issue detector than Midway's. Midway twice ended up with massive US ITAR export fines for shipments to Canada (theoretically trying to comply with ITAR) before giving up on the Canadian marketplace for US exports. I haven't heard any comparable stories...

CZ-527 scope options? I don't want to buy it twice...

I have a CZ527 in .223 Rem I picked the Warne Medium 1" rings, very happy with the choice. I'm running a (legacy) Leupold 2-7x 1" scope.

How Many 9mm Cases Are In This Box?

I already owned my own weight in 9mmx19 brass, and started to give it away :-) (btw, my guess was 1500)

    Why not more stainless steel?

I prefer stainless steel in firearms when available. BTW, you can chemically blacken stainless steel if reflection is an issue for the application. I believe S&W 6906 had an aluminum alloy frame, stainless slide.

    Times like the current

Alternatively, buy ahead enough that you can readily ride out the sporadic surges in demand. My definition of "enough" for ammunition and reloading component stocks has evolved over the last 10+ years (at least 3 banics/panics). n.b. Canadian retail is mostly at the mercy of US mfgr and...

    Embarrassing Squib Load Incident

1/3" (0.333) brass rods fit 9mmx19 and .38/.357 bores nicely. The better fit to the bore for a squib rod the better it works. Good to test beforehand so there are no surprises.

    Ammo Storage thoughts

found this: What's the FDNY 200 round rule? FDNY fire codes state that you can only have 200 rounds of ammunition max in your home in NYC. Not 200 rounds of each caliber, it's 200 total - period. more than 200, counting each round of ammunition and each primer separately.Jul 26, 2013

    Ammo Storage thoughts

Lockable door multi-shelf storage cabinet for the ammo cans. The tricky part is to confirm the per-shelf weight limit is at least 200 lbs each. Here is a Canadian example...

    9mm loads

using in a stock 9mm revolver? If I was shooting in a division with a 125 power factor floor, I would probably want some margin in the power factor - say 133+. Chronographs, scales and temperatures are all variables on match day...

Has anyone ever purchased a firearm after seeing it in a movie or on tv?

I got a takedown W94 built after seeing a takedown lever gun on "Streets of Fire (1984)". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088194/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

    Magazine Subscriptions and gun knowledge.

For those leading a mobile lifestyle, many of the gun magazines are also available in electronic downloadable format these days :-) I read and subscribed to several of the gun magazines for a decade or so from say 1985 to 1995. The nature of such publications is that their information articles...

Buying a gun: What is a legal residence address?

Having earlier researched the lack of regulatory support for 2A rights for American ex-pats visiting the United States, there seems to be a similar lack of regulatory recognition of Americans trying to live a mobile lifestyle. It all flows back to how GCA'68 was drafted. Since both affected...

    .308 has a kick?

I handload a clone of the Hornady .308/125 lite for my aluminum receiver BLR in .308 using H4895. Makes it much more enjoyable to repeatedly fire on the range.
