    Took a Canadian shooting today.

He's an engineer, down here for a conveyor rebuild. He's never shot a handgun before. First gun is an Uberti Sheriff's model in .45 Colt, loaded with the good stuff. Then a Uberti in .357Mag, loaded with the boring stuff. Then me with the Sheriff's. He was the first to ever shoot this gun...

    Got a new Pietta '60

Either I got lucky or Pietta has learned to make the bolt a bit smaller so it will fit in the slots. Took it apart to file down the bolt, guess what, it doesn't need filing. Haven't shot it yet, something I have to remedy.

    Cylinder pins for Pietta SAA

I bought a Pietta SAA in .357 the other day. It doesn't have the same style cylinder pin as they used to. This one allows BP fouling to gum up the works. Very nearly locked up with 5 shots, 4 more and it was locked up with fouling. Y'll know of any aftermarket pins for the newer Piettas...

    Burned some powder today

Last week I purchased an Uberti SAA in .45Colt. Last night I broke it down, cleaned all the factory grease out of it, and took it out to the range today. Guess what? Uberti's don't disassemble like they used to. I wasn't aware of the plunger type hand spring, and unknowingly lost it. So...

    Just rambling.

I haven't posted anything here in a long time. Due to a lot of things I haven't pulled a trigger in a long time. But I surely do enjoy coming here every day and vicariously living the life. Y'all keep on shooting and posting. I'll smell the smoke.

Some more velocity tests, .45Colt reduced loads

As promised I went back out to the range today with 3 more loads to test. All loads are 10 grains of Goex FFFg, topped with cornmeal, and various bullets. All shot from a Walker with R&D conversion cylinder. 150 grain El Paso Pete Big Lube Bullet: 574 567 554 538 564 180 grain...

Help lobby for a new run of Ruger Old Army's.

Saw this over on the SASS Wire. I figure a few more votes from this forum couldn't hurt anything. http://sassnet.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=215956

Nice group with the Buff Classic

I put a scope back on my Buffalo Classic since I just can't shoot worth a flip with irons. Went out to the range today to sight it in. After 4 shots at 25 yards to get it on paper, I moved out to 100 yards. The bottom line is my first three shots. I wasn't happy at all with that scattergun...

Very short video: Fun with .45-70

I thought this was mildly entertaining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNrr6bu7Geo

Question for those that make their own felt wads.

When you've finished punching out a sheet, what do you do with the rest of the felt? Lots of good wax mixture left, just wondering how to re-coup it. Or am I just too much of a tightwad?* I suppose one could boil the pieces, then let the wax cool on top of the water, remove it, then throw...

Stage 9 at Ruckus in the Nations-video

This is me shooting at Ruckus over the week-end. Had a great time. The match directors made a new category called Frontiersman Gunfighter since there were three of us that wanted to shoot it. I am the Oklahoma State Champion in the category, but that's not bragging because the guy that was...

    Video: 7.62 Nagant reload test

Made it out to the land this PM. Here's a little video of testing factory vs BP reloads. I'd reckon the factory loads would be less effective than a .22LR, even though it's a 90 grain bullet. The reloads look more impressive, due to higher velocity, but remember, they're only 40 grain bullets.

    Loading BP in 7.62 Nagant

I got a Nagant in trade the other day, shot a few smokeless rounds through it. OK, but not very exciting. So I figured out a way to reload them with 777 FFg. Here's how I did it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmwMehb2GfI

    .45-70 and indoor range

My son-in-law, his dad, and my grandson and granddaughter went to Heartland Outdoors in Edmond, OK last Sunday. I just had to break out the Buff Classic and make some smoke. Sure gets the attention of everyone else on the range! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txWFP9hCiO8 One employee shot...

Anyone else use the Lee Loader hand tool?

I found 11 .44-40 brass lying around the other day, and since my turret is currently set up for .38Special and I didn't want to change the dies out for just 11 rounds I dug out my Lee Loader. Took me about 10 minutes to deprime, resize, charge, seat and crimp those 11 rounds. They sure are...

Tested some home made BP today

Shots in order: Navy, Army, Army, Navy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7prFBiOUZU Not a bad batch, I made it a couple of years ago, and just now getting around to trying it out.

Got to burn some BP Thursday night

Son-in-law and I went to H&H in OKC to do some serious work, breaking in new guns (his Kahr K-45 and Diamondback .380 and my wife's LCR with Crimson Trace grips). Anyway when we got through with that boring :D stuff, out came the '60, '51, and Baby Remington. First shot with the '60 and...
