    Talk me into AR pistol

"Shooting an SBR AR is much more comfortable than a Tavor IMHO." Indeed, if you can "shoulder" the short barrelled AR, that changes the dynamic of using it tremendously. But then you have to go through the paperwork, wait time and cost of the SBR process. Since that pic was taken, the AR...

    Talk me into AR pistol

I built one with a 10.5" barrel as a lark some years ago, it is fun to shoot, but since then I've also got my hands on an MSAR and a Tavor. Both those have 16" barrels, are a little shorter and balance far better and a quicker on target than the AR pistol, so it doesn't get shot much these days...

    Dan Wesson Valor

Hi, I have a couple of Valors as well as Browns, Wilsons, Nighthawks etc. Get the Valor, you are giving up nothing save for bragging rights.... I've sent you a PM...... edited to add: Baer would be a good choice too for all the reasons mentioned above. Both feel quite different though...

    G18 Legality

depending on whom you ask, there are between 0 and 5 fully transferable G18s on the registry, so the cost would be anyones guess...$50,000 to $150,000 each would be mine. As they cost around $532 apiece, probably cheaper to become an SOT with the appropriate demo letter then....

    Well, I guess I failed.

I'd say you did more than ok at 200yrd,un-benched with no magnification, I can't see a target at that distance without the aid of a 9X optic.... :o

Double Tap, Triple Tap, or Until Empty

"why did you shoot him 13 times ?" "because that's all the magazine holds" From an SAS trooper questioned over shooting IRA member Danny McCann as part of Operation Flavius in '88 as others have said, there's no rhyme or reason to how many rounds a person will take before stopping.

    Supressor for HD?

I use my suppressed MSAR for HD for the reasons others have listed, reduced concussion from fire in the enclosed space and almost zero muzzle flash With the suppressor fitted my MSAR is about the same length as my 16" AR with the stock semi collapsed. I have a tax stamp and my approved...

melonite finish after 14 months/10k rounds...

it was done by Drake at Drakes Gun Works. great guy to work with, reasonable cost (i would contact him directly, but it was less than many ceramic coating alternatives) and quick turnaround time. He also did the barrel cut and recrown and the countersunk slide stop pin for me.

melonite finish after 14 months/10k rounds...

I'm not a fan of silver guns, so I had my stainless DW CBOB melonited about 14 months ago. It's been my daily carry since then, gotten through 10,000 assorted rounds been tossed around, dropped and generally been made to feel unloved. the before: the after: I chose a melonite finish...

    Awb '08

It's good that the bill includes more than just the usual evil black rifles, it'll reduce it's chance of going anywhere the more shooting/ sporting catogories it impacts..then it's just not us loony lovers of all things high cap and wicked looking that will feel the need o push back.... That...

    Sell my Kimber for a............??

funnily enough here's a pic of my RRA Pro carry with my Dan Wesson CBOB.... I love the RRA, it's beautifully fitted and finished, inside and out, great trigger and shoots better than I can. My CBOB is my everyday carry. Although the attention to detail (fitting of the beavertail for...

Operator, I got your Operator right here.

that is a s-w-e-e-t pistol ! Top self work fella ! I find it definitely more comfortable for carry, it does print less, especially if you bend or twist your torso a lot ( getting my baby out of his baby seat comes to mind ), and I find it very comfortable to shoot too. I would have all my...

    M&P 40 v. Glock 40 - review and thoughts

I'm a lover of Glocks, I have a 26 and a 30. (although I carry a 1911 - go figure ;) ) ! tried out the M&P compact 9 last weekend and was majorly impressed by the ergonomics and accuracy...it was just a very comfortable pistol to shoot. I'm sorely tempted to get one in 45 with the paddle...

    Thinking about getting a kimber

$1300 ? You need to look around on gunbroker a bit, they regularly go for aound $1000. Anyway. $1300 as has been mentioned gets you awfully close to a new Les Baer, and right on top of a good used one, another $200 gets you into used Springfield Pros, Rock Rivers etc. If you must have a pistol...

Probably a Stupid Question Regarding 1911s, But...

I used to work next to and shoot at the Bullseye range in San Rafael. One day the guy in there said try my 1911. I did and I liked it and they happened to have another one for sale.....:D It cost me $1199 about the same as a Kimber Gold match, a Wilson CQB was about $1700 and a railed...

posted by Rangegod first dibs !! I'd give it a 7. I don't like park, but it doesn't have FCS and the beavertail looks nicely done.

Which Small 9mm To Get? Down to 3 Choices...

As a fan of the CZ I tried an early steel framed rami. Nice but heavy. I haven't handled the poly version. I would have said Glock 26 ( i have one ), or 19, but I shot the compact S&W M&P 9 the other weekend and was very impressed with the ergonomics, construction and accuracy. Tempted to pic...
