At what point would you not buy locally?

When BudsGunShop.com has a SW M/P15-22 for $479 and my local gun shop says they can do $525, sure I'll do it. But when they say their "best possible price" on an FN SCAR 16 is $2895 and HKSpecialist has it for $2225, they can go shove it

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

Its fixed at the normal position that a 74 brake would sit. I just use a pressurized spray cleaner to hose the thing out every once in a while.

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

Its not terribly front heavy. I think the slight lack of barrel mass helps to offset the addition of the (fairly light) rail. Gas port is unchanged, with 762x39, gas alterations usually dont need to be made until you get down to the 12 inch mark or so.

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

Sure thing guys. Loading a pic, give me a sec. The front sling hook actually has to be removed in order to install the MIx rail. I hated to take a dremel to a premium AK, but like I said, its a functionally oriented weapon, and the extended rail real estate was worth the loss of the hook. I...

Let the AK go for an AR?

I apologize in advance, I didnt read any replies past the first page. Consider an AK74 type variant. The 5.45mm is SUPER cheap right now, and has almost no recoil with a proper '74 type muzzle brake. Both of these factors lend themselves particularly well to 3gun type shooting. I've seen guys...

Best value sniper rifle - probably milsurp

I dont think I'd want a scoped anything for SHTF go-to gun. Then again I'm in a mostly urban area where the likes of an AR/AK serve me better What happens when your gun takes a hard knock and the scope gets bumped off zero? Ammo shortages, discretion, and other factors may not allow you to...

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

Yessir, the 556 ones definitely have less curve in the mag. Here's a 5.56 Saiga that belongs to my brother for reference

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

7.62x39 Alternative AK calibers (5.45/5.56) are usually able to be identified by a magazine with less of a curve to it.

    AK-103K by AK-USA/Chris Butler (pics/review)

I had Chris at AKUSA in Florida put together this beauty for me over the Christmas holiday. In short, gun starts life as an Arsenal/Saiga import, Chris does the conversion, shortened the barrel to 14 inches, refinished the gun, and dehorned a few edges, etc. I added a few other 'practical'...

AT-94K MP5K clone range report (PICS)

^^Yeah, its certainly not the most practical weapon for the money, but Ive got other guns that fill those roles nicely. Its definately a 'fun' gun, not a 'need' gun

AT-94K MP5K clone range report (PICS)

PTK, I paid 1349 shipped from Atlantic Firearms, theyre great guys. About a hundred bucks more than from some other retailers, but for a potential SBR rifle, I needed it to function perfectly, and I knew Atlantic would take care of me if something went wrong. Plus, they offer a discount to us...

AT-94K MP5K clone range report (PICS)

Of course, the stock can only be added once NFA/SBR paperwork is complete and stamp is in hand. The authentic HK PDW side folder stock is the one I will likely go with. Its as simple as popping off the buttplate and popping on the stock. The stock and 200 dollar transfer tax will add about...

AT-94K MP5K clone range report (PICS)

I know its not technically a rifle, but most who buy these intend to SBR them into rifles.... First outing with the AT-94K MP5K clone. Fired 500 rounds of WWB and WWB NATO, no issues or malfunctions. One round failed to ignite, and would not detonate in a 9mm USP or Glock either. Bad...

    FN FS2000: CQB perfection?

^^The Aug is a great design but its biggest drawback is the lack of instant ambidextrosity (if thats a word)

    1,000 yard kill with a .22 rf

Youd have to aim the rifle up in the air to even get close to that kind of range, and even if you COULD hit a person, it would be like getting hit by a pebble at that point.

    FN FS2000: CQB perfection?

See my above post re: reload speed Its not AR fast, but its faster than an AK

Rifle choice for all around use.

How about an AR-10 with an aimpoint and detachable 3x magnifier? Or a SCAR 17 with the same gear, if your budget is higher? You get high capacity, accuracy, reliability, and the long distance needed for hunting.

    FN FS2000: CQB perfection?

Oh and another thing, some people debate the reliability of the forward eject tube/chute. Casings will not get clogged in the tube, no matter how hard you try. You can close the dust cover, but the empties will simply push it open and fall out normally. You can fire the gun upwards and the...

    FN FS2000: CQB perfection?

^^Regarding the above question about malfunctions.... When I said 4000 rounds and zero malfunctions, I technically lied a little bit. I have intentionally induced some malfunctions in order to practice this scenario. I've loaded mags with a random snap cap (wont feed) or an empty casing (wont...
