What to do with junk gun??

Years ago I had bought a used Sterling .22cal pocket pistol that, after a few years use, would double on me due to a rounded off sear. I turned it in during a local buy-back "stunt" the local PD was holding and got a $100.00 certificate good at a local sporting goods store (only paid 50.00...

    Survey: Your Handgun Battery

Voted for two systems. For ME, it has evolved into the following: Belt carry - Condition One LW 1911 (and once in a while my .40cal BHP) Pocket carry - DAO firearms. If primary a Kahr P9covert, if BUG a airweight j-frame. Cocked and locked on the belt, DAO in the pocket. regards

Is bigger better ... have you PERSONALLY switched to a smaller caliber?

For hot weather pocket carry, went from j-frame .38's to Kahr P9covert. For home defense, went from .38spl revolver to 16rd Sig P226 9mm. For belt carry, has been a LW 1911 .45acp pistol since 1973. Recently picked up a Garthwaite custom .40cal BHP that "might" become my belt carry...

TonyB, M. Ayoob also wrote in the "Files" of a female police officer who took a .357 round in her heart, stayed in the fight, returned fire, killed her attacker, and lived with the help of emergency medical treatment. Now, which of his stories do you want to follow. The one where 3 .38cal...

    Best Pocket Carry Opinions?

Over 30 years of pocket carry here. The first 25 I used a j-frame, first in steel (MDL 60) then later an airweight (MDL 442). In the last 5 I "tried" a Glock 26 for about 4 months but it was a little too wide for my pockets. Since, I've settled on a Kahr P9 covert with std pressure 124gr...

P9 or P9 covert, any thoughts?

For hot weather pocket carry I went with the P9 covert because I wanted the slightly longer barrel. I carry Speer GD 124gr std jhp's. Very accurate with mild recoil for a lightweight pistol. Very easy and comfortable to pocket carry in an Uncle Mike's #3 fabric pocket holster. regards

    What's Your Best CCW Tip?

Hey TallPine, I resemble that remark ;) Carrying IWB is soooo much more comfortable with RR 5.11 pants/shorts (and other casual or dress brands) that have the expandable waistband feature. Add a quality belt and holster and you're good for all day carry. regards

    Questions on Gunsite #250 course.....

It's been A WHILE since my #250 course, but in reflecting back I wish I had brought knee pads. I started to dread going prone at the 25yd line around thursday, my knees were SORE. When attending the #350 & #499 courses I wore knee pads all week. Never had a need for elbow pads. regards

The Relative Power of .38 Snub Nose

My LW j-frames are loaded with 148gr wc based on the recommendation given by Dr Roberts, the testing done at www.ammolab.com, and my ability to control and shoot this round very well out to 15-20 yds. MY belief is that for .22/.32/.380/.38spl(in a 2 inch bbl) penetration is desired more then...

    Krav Maga

Folks, It seems that my wording in my prior post came across poorly, even thou I did use a happy face. I'll try to do better this time. First an explaination. I was only looking to brush up on some empty hand techniques as sort of a continuing education to all the CQB courses I've taken in...

    Krav Maga

First off I have to say I only took one introductory course of Krav Maga, but I did not go back. A couple of things bothered me. 1. This class had us bouncing around on the balls of our feet or constantly in motion while executing different punches in front of a mirror. This was not movement...

    OHIO: Taft backs concealed-carry bill

I spent some time in Florida when the rash of carjackings/assualts against individuals using rental cars was at it's height. What was never publicly acknowledged (but widely know within LE) was criminals realized that foreign visitors and/or out-of-staters were far less likely to be a card...
