    Movies with Guns

The 1990 classic "Men at Work" starring Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, and David Keith (the black dude from "They Live") features an air rifle in about half of the scenes, the gun is almost a supporting character. A silly movie, but one of my favorites.

Shooting and Asthma...anybody else have problems?

Yes, and you would have to eat a truckload of them to get the equivalent level of fructose in your body as in a couple sodas. Wow, everyone (incl me) has jumped on board to try to help you, and you want to close your own thread because of a small amount of OT? Not very nice or courteous.

What are the common types of rimfire pistols?

The price of 22mag might surprise you, especially when compared to 22lr. From what I've seen, 22mag and 9mm cost about the same per round. I like the Ruger Mk's, but I love the Buckmark (I have both.)

    Angelina Jolie Pro Gun?

Hopefully she's learned to shoot them properly, not that one-in-each-hand nonsense like in the movie and videogame.

Shooting and Asthma...anybody else have problems?

I had childhood asthma which has become less serious as I grew older. I find that gases from some cartridges will cause asthma symptoms, and others do not. For example PMC 223's have an ammonia-ish smell that causes my bronchi to tighten up immediately. Could there be any correlation to ammo...

Please enlighten me (about Taurus firearms)

my personal 24/7 experience Hit or miss. Those with "hits" love them, but there seem to be a conspicuously large number of us who have had lemons. Excellent, the gun never failed to fire. Too bad the accuracy was so poor that the target usually only had only a couple holes in it after a full...

    kudos to keltec

That's awesome. Some bag on KT's as being a crapshoot, but Kel Tec's commitment to making it right (without hassle and with courtesy) takes all the risk out of it. Taurus' repair/customer service dept, you taking notes? This will be on the test...

    AR magazine strategy

Haven't heard that, interesting. Repeated chambering in an AR (or other semiautos) can also cause bullet setback, which causes increased pressure, which can cause kaboom.

Barret 50 M82 Want One soooo Bad

If I was going to Baghdad to fight the insurgents, and Uncle Sam was picking up the tab, the M82 would be a great choice. Here in civilian-50bmg-land where I'd be spending my own money, I'd save up for an AR50. (truthfully, I've been drooling over an AR30 for a long time.)

Knoxville Homeowner Not Charged For Shooting At Thief's Vehicle

On Slashdot we call this "A Sudden Outbreak of Common Sense." Legally, not the best. Morally...? I approve of his actions. In his shoes, I truly believe that I would have been aiming at the center of the driver's seat. He's got a cooler head than most I think.

    Lorcin, Byrco and family

The J22 I had wasn't even a decent single shot pistol, light strike city. I don't remember it ever firing two shots in a row without a malf. Useless ghetto piece of junk with a hard chrome finish. Worse than useless, an inexperienced owner might be fooled into thinking that they could defend...

I'm the proud owner of a brand new AR-15! (NSFW)

AR's like to run a little wet inside. Mostly I do what the military does, use Breakfree CLP for both clean and lube, although I do use a touch of Tetra grease on the cam pin. Zero malfunctions so far in my Stag type 2 carbine.

Is magtech good ammo in 9mm or any othher caliber for that matter?

Shot some .357 magtech, it seemed somewhat hot, more blast and recoil than some, but me and the GP100 liked that just fine...

    "Decocking" Taurus Millenium Pro

A light strike/fail-to-fire is the only way, and that's only for the pistols with the second strike capability. Aparently the military didn't like this setup either, so Taurus added a decocker to the 24/7 OSS.

    Walther P22

IMO you can get lots more gun for the same amount of money as the overpriced P22. The P22 looks neat and sexy, but accuracy is middling to poor and it's picky about ammo (which can make reliability very poor). It uses a zinc alloy slide, like a bargain-basement Hi-Point, but at roughly three...
