    What did you shoot today?

New Buck Mark Field Target. Added Tandemkross trigger and sear spring. 10 rounds @ 7 yards. Indoor range at local Bass Pro.

    Modern handheld flashlight.

Armored Farmer - I have bought, modified, and built flashlights for 25 years. Here's my suggestion... The hardest criteria you listed was the 100+ yards requirement. That's a long ways away to light up something with a hand-held, portable light. I don't think you really want - at least I don't...

Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Thanks! I grew up in Colorado Springs. Moved to KC when we got married in '78. It is beautiful out there. I'm glad you get to enjoy it!

Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Not far from there, 46+ years ago I got down on a knee and asked a lovely girl to be my wife. We've lived a blessed life ever since. I've enjoyed your pictures of the area. We live in the Kansas City area now, but get back there to visit family every once in a while.

    Single-Six Refinish

I contacted them a couple weeks ago. Had a local FFL mail it to them for me. (FFL wanted $20 to do so. Ruger wanted $40.) Got it back yesterday. Total turn around time was no more than two weeks. BTW - the return shipping was included in the cost.

    Single-Six Refinish

I thought so too. I'd traded another 22 for it. So I had about $300 in it already.

    Single-Six Refinish

Traded for a 1970 Ruger Single-Six a few months ago. Posted about it here. Looked like this... Decided to send it in to Ruger to have them refinish it. They did a re-blue, fitted it with a .22 mag cylinder, replaced the grips, and did the "safety upgrade" / transfer bar install (however...

    New to me S&W 17-3

Thanks for the clarifications on the 22 Longs. It was an assumption. I scrubbed the cylinders really well and rounds drop in and out freely now.

    New to me S&W 17-3

Picked up a 17-3 today. S/N 8K39XXX. Interesting target grips. Not sure if I'll keep them. Previous owner must have only fired .22 longs in it, because there was a pronounced carbon ring in each of the chambers that made it hard to chamber the rounds. Also, has after-market sights which...

Decided to try something different - Single-Six

Wow. Thank you for all the help and advice. Thank you Driftwood Johnson for that detailed write-up. (Did you have to stay up all night to put all that together? ;) ) I appreciate everyone's perspective on whether or not to have the transfer bar upgrade done. I think at this point I will not...

Decided to try something different - Single-Six

Will updating to a transfer bar affect the trigger (pull)? It has a pretty nice trigger now (that I would not want to mess up).

Decided to try something different - Single-Six

Thanks everyone. I have no interest in trying to make it look like new. Just want to make sure I mitigate the rust. I've wanted a Single-Six for a long time. Just happened to find a "good deal" on this one. Figured it would last me for a while. Appreciate the help. I'll post a picture when I...

Decided to try something different - Single-Six

Well I lied. With it being a "Super Single Six" (adjustable sights). That makes the year of manufacture 1970..

Well, I guess it's not older than me after all! Thanks Rubone!

Decided to try something different - Single-Six

You may very well be right. I just looked up the serial number on the Ruger web site. 60-29XXX. Thanks - the guy I bought it from told me about that. I'll have to learn how to load it. Ha! I'm old enough to appreciate the "Grasshopper" reference! I will watch the video. Thank you!
