A New Cartridge For Me - 45 LC - Any Advice?

I've went to tapered, plain steel dies for all my straight wall, non high volume stuff. They produce cases with a much better chamber fit and gets rid of the goofy wasp waist look. They also work the brass less which means cases last longer.

    BLC-2 and 55 grain fmj

27.5gr BLC2 under a 55gr FMJ is my blammo ammo load. Seems to shoot well in many different ARs I've tried it in.

Looking for a 357 handload without stuck cases

Those tornado brushes are magic for this kind of work. 0000 steel wool wrapped on a brush works great also.

    Defective or damaged primers?

You were right about people saying "the charge". Sounds like a classic round with no powder in it.

    New Lot of Benchmark

It's called dwell time. The slower bullet is in the barrel for more time thus is affected more from muzzle climb. Slower bullets print higher up to a certain distance in the trajectory arch, then lower after a certain distance. What was the temperature when testing the new lot? The extreme...

Half the servicos aventuras primers I have used fail

I bought a bunch of Ginex primers, then very soon after that I bought a ram prime. It was the absolute only way to seat them properly.

    Rcbs RC IV disassembly.

Bought a used RCIV recently at a gun store and first thing I did was a complete disassembly for a deep clean and lube. That pin has shoulders on each end. It won't come out without first removing the arms. The arms are held on with press fit pins at the top. One pin has a hole in it. I used a...

Components for cartridges you don’t shoot?

Complete opposite here. If I can't use it, it's gone. I can't stand disorganization and clutter.

    .243 Bullets

From my personal experience, those 85gr Sierras and IMR4350 are a deers worst nightmare. It's like someone flips the off switch when those hit them.

.223 Brass resizing. Running into problems

Got me all excited mentioning nitrided expander ball. Can't believe no one is making nitrided dies yet. Hard, smooth, virtually impervious to rusting, zero dimensional changes... Seems like a no brainer and all the qualities you would want in reloading dies.

Extra .5” of barrel worth it?

I'd slug your barrel. If your barrel's groove spec is .402" and you're shooting .400" bullets that's a recipie for a "slow" barrel.

Remove all the seating guts from the die and run some brass through it without seating any bullets.

    RCBS Matchmaster bullet seater issue

Insanely compressed powder charge blowing the case out? Can only think of 3 things. Die is screwed in too far causing it to buckle case, brass is so extremely soft that merely seating a bullet crumples it or an extreme compressed charge. With a charge that compressed you would get severe ring...

So a freshly sized case passes case gauge, then after seating a bullet the case hangs in gauge 1/4" past the rim?
