I believe that the statement sounds good but like any hobby/profession, there are alot of hidden costs. This could be in the form of tools, machines, materials, ect.

I would have to agree. My Ar cannot, I mean cannot, get through more than 5 rounds with out jamming. Makes me happy to think I didnt buy a bulk pack before I got the gun like I would have liked to.
