Where can I buy exploding targets?

.17 HMR only works on Tannerite at ranges closer than 100 yards. I've never had a failure with a .223 GREAT STUFF! Watermelons are the only way to go with big bore revolvers though...

Narrowing the choices for a Varmint/Target AR

I bought the Stag. ZERO regrets. The varmints don't care how much you spend. (Put good glass on it and don't feed it Wolf ammo no matter what you choose)

Are There Any Other Worthwhile (NRA Type) Groups?

+1 to the JPFO. You don't have to be a member of the tribe. They are effective, non-compromised and on message.

    S&W 500---any owners with opinions?

It's not the wrist, it's the web between your thumb and index finger. :-) Heavy bullets at 900-1400 fps are milder than the sub 450gr slugs launched at 1400-2000fps. Rock and roll!

    Gunblast.com Stupidity

What are you trying to say? The San Francisco PD has done exactly that and the primarily Hispanic/Latino and Asian recruits are indeed physically more diminutive on average. I found no ethnically pejorative tone or content in Mr. Quinn's article. Perhaps you should turn your sensitivity meter...

    Another Ultra Long-Range caliber

Cool. The cost and complexity required to motivate a bullet accurately at those ranges is impressive but it seems that the next step beyond .408 range would be an electromagnetically propelled projectile. 10,000 meters per second takes a little edge off windage effects. :-)

    Shooting .17HM2 in a Bolt Action .17HMR??

Can I bolt 5.0 Chevy heads to a 5.0 Ford block? See how silly that sounds?

What Accuracy Can be Expected from an AR-15?

I bought a Stag model 6 'precision varminter' for ~ $1000 for the complete rifle. Comes with a 0.5 MOA factory guarantee and a 2 stage trigger. Heavy (they're not kidding!) barrel and free float handguard. I topped it with a Nikon Monarch 5-20 scope and a nice harris bipod and I have a gun...

I'm guessing you're about 15. Try hitting something at 300 feet before you try the ol' 5280.

    Army training with new rifles

Appears to be designated marksman training. DM's carry those, while the rest of a squad will have M4s and a SAW sometimes. No reason to believe it's a service wide change.

Decision made. M1A Scout Squad. Now; Wood or Black?

Barefoot, pregnant and armed. I like it.

    Best Varmint Scope

I researched and looked around at the exact same class of optics and settled on the Monarch. Longest eye relief was a big plus. Best optical clarity IMHO. (YES, over the Leupold according to my eyes) Nothing against the Bushnell 4200, the Nikon was just better at the price point. Leupold...

Replacing my Endura for EDC - Benchmade?

I have to second that BM 940 recommendation. New models are S30V. I have a 615 as well. Either are great blades.

    Partial underlug vs. Full underlug.

While there are a few minor reasons that full underlugs exist, 90% of the reason is aesthetic marketing.

    S&W 500 or S&W 460 for dangerous game defense?

How many of these opinions are based on first hand experience vs. anecdotes? X frames are too big but a Ruger isn't? My John Ross 5" 500 weighs ~6oz more than a 2.5" .480 Ruger. Most of that is barrel. Long barrels and compensators are recommended? I've been shooting bullets from...

    Model 500 help...

Shooting well is more important than shooting big. That said, I'm a proponent of challenging your personal shooting skills. Take your buddy to a range and make him rent a 500 and record his shooting performance. If he's happy with the cost of feeding and owning the mighty X frame then a...

    .500 S&W Special

Indeed it does. Try talking to the folks at Ballistic Supply about their reduced loads. They have Starline once fired brass as well.
