Would you shoot a Heritage Walker Colt?

I have found one for sale, and am considering purchasing it. But as with all of my guns, they do get fired. I don't believe that these were intended to be fired, and would feel bad doing so. I have a nice Uberti Walker, shoots like a dream (minus some trigger creep), so I don't really need...

    Uberti Walker POA vs. POI.

I took my Uberti Walker out yesterday for the first time since the early 1990's. I had a great time, and was extremely impressed at how much power this revolver has. I was shooting round lead balls (.454") over 47gr of Swiss FFFg. I did not try more as I have read that going over 50gr is hard...

    Uberti Walker and Colt's Patent?

Hello all, I have an old Uberti Walker that my dad bought me back in the early 90's if I recall. Anyways, I noticed that on my Walker that it has the Colt's Patent on the cylinder roll engraving, but the newer Walker's do not have this. Also, my grips are plain walnut, not the reddish color...

I found this in Remington's 2008 catalog on page 83 (I think). They look prett sweet, I will be ordering a one of them if they do become available. Jared

    Usfa.

Anybody here own one? I just ordered an Ainsworth this afternoon. It is a replica of the first military Colt SAA's that were inspected at the factory by Orville W. Ainsworth. I wanted a real Colt, but Colt doesn't make anything like this anymore. Jared

    Signature Series Colt 1861 Navy.

How much would you pay for one of these? How much can they be had for? It seems everyone I see for sale is as much as a 2nd gen. Jared

Would you shoot an original 19th Century Colt?

I am having so much fun with my new 2nd gen. Colt 1860 that I am toying with the idea of an original 1860, I have found some decent looking ones in the $1,700-2,000 range. Would these be considered safe to shoot? Just toying with the idea, I could be buy 2 or 3 NIB 2nd gens for that price.

Shot my Colt SAA today loaded with black powder.

Took out the Colt SAA in .45 Colt today and fired 45 rounds of .45 Colt loaded with black powder. My first impression is that the black powder rounds have noticebly more recoil than their smokeless counterparts. My gun has the black rubber grips with the checkering, my palms feel like they...

I fired the 2nd gen. Colt 1860 today.

Loaded it up with Traditions .451 lead balls and 25gr of Swiss FFFg. Tried both CCI #10 and Remington #11 caps; the #10's fit perfectly. The #11's fit okay but did fall off after firing, but stayed on until fired. Very little recoil and pleasant to shoot. I noticed that windage was dead on...

2nd gen. Colt screws same as originals?

Are the threads on the 2nd gen. Colts the same as the originals made in the 19th century? Are the modern Uberti's the same as the 2nd gen's?

    Loosen the wedge screw?

Does the wedge on C&B Colt's need to be loosened for the wedge to be moved in order to take the gun down for cleaning? If so, how much does it need to be backed out?

Charge range for Colt 1860 Army?

What is the correct powder charge range for an Colt 1860 Army? Min to Max. I've read that too stiff of a charge can stretch the frame and crush the wedge, what is a good charge of Swiss FFFg to stay below to prevent this? Jared

Picked up a NIB fluted cylinder 1860 Colt.

It is a 2nd Gen. in the mint black box with the little gold filled pin. The gun is flawless and unturned with a zip tie around the hammer. Should I fire it? I picked up 5 pounds of Swiss FFF powder, this should work correct? What is the charge range? How about caps, what size? #11...

    3rd Gen. Colt's.

I know that they are not as desirable as the 2nd Gen. Colt's, but are they made well? I just want one to shoot that says Colt on the barrel with all of the correct rollmarks. Jared

New 2nd Gen. Colts, difficult to take apart?

I recently picked up a new in box 2nd Gen. Colt Walker. I removed the wedge very easily, but after that the gun refused to come apart. Is this normal for these? I know that they have been sitting in some type of rust inhibitor for decades that has probably hardened into glue. Jared
