Thanks for all the information gents. Its giving me a better idea of what I want to accomplish with the build. Basically, I want a heavier round out of a longer barrel to get some decent accuracy at somewhat reasonable distances (600 yds?). And I think these guns look cool as hell!

My only concern is the statement "should only be used for spare or replacement parts only" that DSA includes in their part description on the site. Makes me a little reluctant to pull the trigger. Does anyone have direct experience in building an FAL from a DSA Kit? How was it?

Should I go to DSA for everything? Id like to save money where I can.

Rotate or "clock" your extractor ever so slightly to the right or left to suit your shooting.

About the only gun I would be skepic shooting lefty is a right handed flintlock. I don't know about all that powder ingiting right infront of my face.
