    This May Be the Reason

In the link below the author suggests that Clinton holdovers may have been the reason the Bush administration took so long to establish a terrorism policy. You decide. http://www.insightmag.com/news/642882.html

    Shipping Firearms via UPS/FedEx

Zak, You're right, weapons shipments are limited to Next Day Air. I ran a calculation at the UPS site and assumed shipping a Glock from Pasadena, CA to Smyrna, GA. The calculated costs were: UPS Ground - $11.15 Next Day Air - $62.30 Quite a difference from the old way.

Next battle in repealing federal gun laws?

Look for many more amendments to keep the ban attached to popular legislation that the president will find difficult to veto. Remember what just happened to the gun manufacturers liability legislation. The Dems really want that ban to continue and haven't conceded defeat quite yet.

    Shipping Firearms via UPS/FedEx

I went to the links provided and noticed that the discussions were about the relevant Federal law on shipping weapons. I seem to recall that a company, UPS, has refused on their own to ship guns irregardless of existing Federal law. Is that correct?

Woo, expanded Patriot Act powers... Niiiice.

Read an interesring article today about the overall decrease in crime, a portion of which I quote below; "But while the Patriot Act has allowed us to crack down on terrorists, it has proven to be no threat to the civil liberties the rest of us enjoy. Last month, Sen. Dianne Feinstein...

Woo, expanded Patriot Act powers... Niiiice.

While I'm not enamored with some parts of the Patriot Act, I have noticed that our country has not been hit with another 9/11 since it's enactment. Can we make any assumptions from that fact?

California fires - multiple threads merged

I've heard a number of media types opine that there hasn't been a fire in these areas for about 30 years. Over that period the shrubs and other such "fuel" has been allowed to accumulate and never cleared from the forests. I seem to recall, though I may be wrong, that environmental groups had...
