    I wouldn't trust it. Pull the bullets, burn the powder, pop the primers, deprime and mic/inspect the brass for possible reloading or recycling.

    S&w 29-4

    If it is a full lug and has a unflued cylinder it is a 1989 3" Special. If your friend has the box the product code should read 101251. A little over 2500 made. Depending on condition, accessories, box, papers, etc., and your location you could be in 500 -1200 USD range.
