357 Magnum, Jack of all trades, Master of none. It's bark is worst than it's bite.
Moonclips rule but 357 mag sucks on moonclips. Too long and skinny.
I use 38 Special far more often than 357 Magnum. If I think I need 357 mag levels of powder I will grab my 10mm revolver or step up to my 44...
I have shot all my turkey with a 26" Browning BPS in 3.5 inch 12 gauge. I have hunted some pretty thick cover of both south east Ohio and middle Tennessee and never found a real need for the shorter barrel. No doubt the shorter barrel might be easier is some really thick stuff but that has yet...
I am always amused by the these threads they always seem to devolve into Revolver vs Semi-autos.
First up I like and own both but personally like revolvers better and use them more often. That said other than a few niche advantages if you're serious about the use of a handgun for social...
I always weight bullets, or alway a sample of them. The variation gives me a sense of quality to a small degree but more important I make sure they are the correct weight. Maybe the label is wrong or missing. A quick check on the scale confirms and away I go.
That said the variation the OP...
That formula is simply a linear fit to a bunch of SAAMI MAP (Maximum Allowable Pressures) CUP and MAP Trans pressure data and though an accurate representation of the general trend on which the fit was applied it can lead to some very dangerous results when we look at specific cartridges...
But in either cartridges that change from crusher to transducer does NOT result in a change of actual pressure.
If you have a pressure barrel that was instrumented with both a crusher and transducer measurement system and loaded a 44 Magnum cartridge that produces 40,000 CUP (Crusher) then we...
A slightly related tangent:
Would you mind documenting that claim that SAAMI changed a pressure spec for 44 Mag or any cartridge. I have seen lots of claims that SAAMI changed 357 Magnum and now you are claiming they changed 44 Magnum. I have yet to see proof that they changed either.
I...
I once pulled a bit over 400 40S&W due to a double change fear (double charges are unpleasant). After break them all down to ensure I had no remaining double charges I reloaded all the cases and reused all the powder and did not have a single malfunction with the re-reloaded ammunition.
I...
Per the website spec page:
50 sessions at max 100 shots per round before a ShotView™ app sync is required to save data to phone.
The app is limited by your phones memory which even with an old phone is likely thousands of session assuming you have not filled your memory up with selfie...
Garmin's account system hold on to only a modest amount of personal information. I already had an account with some of the other Garmin Product so it was easy. That said you can go to Garmin's website and see exactly what they store about you and remove a lot of it if you desire. They are...
The small form factor and battery life in the Garmin is why they can't give you that down range data. The probably only have the power and antenna aperture to track the bullet 10-20 yards down range before the signal to noise ratio makes the return unusable.
I really love the down range data...
If you do use your phone and the app then you have as much memory as your phone has. Once you download the data to your phone you can delete it from the unit and it will remain on your phone until you want to delete it from there.
You do not have to use the app the unit functions just fine without it and you can get to all your data on the screen of the unit. The app is awesome but not required.
If your using 300 BO primarily as a suppressed subsonic gun then you don't really need the longer barrel to get the common heavy subsonic bullets to the usual ~1050 fps. This reduces the advantage of the bull-pup design in this application.
Also bull-pups are ugly as sin and should be avoided...
It currently does not give you any down range date only the calculated muzzle velocity. It has to take some data going down range a short distance but not nearly as far down range as LabRadar and it is not accessible to the user.
Here is my take as a S&W snob.
Taurus is a very mixed bag and their QC comes and goes, more often going than coming. The joke in the USPSA Revolver division circle is Taurus revolvers are fine but you need three. The one you're shooting, the spare in the range bag, and a third back at Taurus...
Pistol calibers like the classic 357/41/44 mag in carbines depend heavily on the powder type for the performance increase in the longer barrels.
When I worked up my 44 Mag load for both my M29 and M92 the powder made a big difference in performance going from the 6.5 inch revolver to the...
