    Conflicted

I think what you felt is totally understandable. I got a late start to hunting (last season I took my first buck) and I felt the excitement and rush you were feeling with that buck. As you mentioned you plan on eating the meat and appreciating the antlers and those are good things. I can't...

    Why the Bling?

Well if money permitted it I can see no issue with decking out your firearm. To many people it's a point of pride, and if they want to spend the money on the firearm industry more power to them. I have never heard anyone say the bullet was less effective coming out of a prettied up pistol. If...

    Ammo in the Southwest...

well many of the regular spots (local range, Wally world, sporting goods shops) are limited at best. and .380--very scarce, and I am here in the capital and heard similar things from a contractor (though not as bad) who travels all over NM

    S&W Model 315 Night Guard

Hmmm....Not sure, but I have a 325NG (N Frame) and at least one of sights I was on looking for a holster did mention that their product would not fit the barrel width of the 325 Night Guard model (while other N frames where a-okay). I would touch base with the holster company before putting too...

    Would you buy a Hi-Point?

.40 "Short & Weak" or "Short & Wimpy"...does this nickname make any sense anymore??!!

I just finished reading an article in GUNS (I think) regarding the 10mm. From what I gathered the 10mm was a good round but penetration was a factor as well as an exagerated recoil. The fear was too many though and through injuries were possible. When the 10mm was introduced, truly good HP...

    Glock 23 vs Springfield XD40

I went with the XD I never fired the Glock but my boss owned one (and swears by it) and I handled it before I went with the XD 40. I am somewhat new to handguns so I thought I would not be that biased towards the grip but you need only to handle them both before you make a choice. For me the...

Just an observation on situational awareness...

The need for safety trumps just about all basic neccessities. It's right up there with food, water and air. Do the homeless need a means to protect themselfs-just as much as anyone else. I look at the individual, his clothes, his demeanor, if I have any money myself. If I can spare some cash...

Gun Range Officer - Total Jerk

well here are my thoughts....are some RSO's jerks?-sure. Do some RSO's need to be? yes indeed, when safety is concerned and the situation warrant's. anybody who has had a close call whether you are the unexpected target or someone you care about is the unexpected target you absolutely believe...

    GLOCK defect/FTF???

Thanks GOOB for shedding some light. I am kind of somewhat indifferent torwards Glocks (it's not what I shoot) but think they are fine weapons in their own right. Just to put it out there; my "motives" for this thread were not to "troll" or "spread rumors", just pass along what I heard...

    GLOCK defect/FTF???

Wally, I am not a rep for the company so I could not even begin to inform you on what their standard practices are. The e-mail I received continues with.... Glock was asked to overnight ship the new trigger bars; however, they said they wouldn't be shipped until Monday 3-3-08. Please...

    Unwilling to pull the trigger.

I am truly sorry your friend had to go through this ordeal. I think a lack of training played the biggest part in not being able to defend herself. The piece of garbage did something so basic that we all do it everyday-and that is gage (judge) the person in front of us. Now for whatever...

    GLOCK defect/FTF???

Can anyone verify about a possible "defect" with the Glock 21? I received this e-mail from a LEO and well I was not sure if anyone else had heard of this either. I am not sure if this was addressed at some point (this forum seems pretty up to date with info,) but this is firearm being widely...

    KPD Kimber and others

well I am definately not the most experienced but a LEO buddy had it narrowed down to 3 guns for home protection. Depending on hand size (I have CARNY hands) my XD40 is a great fit for me. The M&P felt good as well but not quite the same. One of my Leo buddy rants and raves about the Kimber...

Are conceal carry permit holders as well trained with their sidearm as the cops?

"Fact: 11% of police shootings kill an innocent person - about 2% of shootings by citizens kill an innocent person."-from way back in post #11. The problem I see with this quote is simply the situations were a police officer may have to use his/her firearm has to be magnified a large amount...

Just had a scary experience!!! Now getting CCW

I think the key factor here is awareness. You were approached and made aware of this persons requests/demands, you were aware that you were not going to give him a ride and at some point I am sure you became aware that this individual was not taking "no" for an answer. A rolled up window is...

Looking Into Joining Some Branch of the Military

Glad to hear you are considering the service. I don't think the service is for everyone but for those who are will to make a commitment it truly offers some great options. I served four years in the ARMY and although I was more than ready to get out after my initial enlistment I would not have...

New Member? Introduce yourself here (just intros, questions get answered elsewhere)

Hey Just joined up. I really enjoyed reading some of the posts and thought this would be a great place to get info. Just bought my first handgun (XD40) and cannot wait to go burn some rounds through it. Some shooting (rifles) done when I was in the service but wanted something for home...

    Any open carry jurisdictions?

In New Mexico you can OC. Although I rarely see it. CCW requires a class of no less than 15 hours. Your vehicle is veiwed as an extension on your home, so you can keep a firearm in your vehicle as well...but there are a few more specifics.
